It seems to vary with a lot of people. Some are reporting broken quests while others have not had any. There's also crashing issues which most people have been able to fix by using a special launcher that enables the game to use up to 4 GB of RAM. Bethesda's working on making the game officially support up to 4 GB of RAM, though. The only problem I had was that backwards flying dragon which has been fixed. I have 178 hours on the game and started a second character recently so pretty much nothing has been "broken" for me.

Yeah unlike the console versions, we can download memory fixes and mods to fix problems on the PC version.

I have CTD twice, and only in a "hmmm okay" sort of way. Not like "NOOO" or anything.

No bugs aside from the 1.2 patch glitching dragons, or just random engine deficiencies that occur in each 3D Bethesda game.

I can't play without ENBSeries fix on the PC, but other than that, it's okay.

Suddenly crashed to desktop maybe 4 or 5 times in the past 90 gameplay hours. A couple more crashes involving Alt+Tab spam in/out of game to check IMs or something. It's a Bethesda game so bad Alt+Tab code is to be expected, really. Game restarts from scratch and loads a save game in about 22 seconds with a normal hard disk, menu interaction time included, so it's not a major annoyance.

Managed to drop into an impossible-to-get-out-of spot twice and used the in-game console to noclip out. Completed several storylines and explored more than 2/3 of the places available, and the game hasn't really slowed down. My save file's about 15 megabytes.

So, no major problems so far.

after about 120-140 hours I get the dreaded crash to desktop thing more frequent.

I just started my 4th character. If She gets thru the main quest and civil war quests, I'll be happy.

I have also had to use the console to TCL myself out. but I don't use any other cheat codes . I have recently dled the 4 gb patch, I haven't used it tho. LOL

so like above poster, no major probs, but I change characters alot.

The hardware troubles varies system by system. I usually go for the usual standard setup of a typical PC to avoid and exclude anything related to incompatibility-
-After owning several AMD CPUs, i go for Intel chip(I find it more stable and run cooler etc, I rather pay extra)
-Only use well known/brand name memory; hard drive; etc.
-Keep my system clean of junk and bloatware and anything that I don't use is either turned off or uninstalled.
-Keep windows updated
-Use certified drivers. I test beta sometimes, but I don't remember ever keeping any beta drivers or beta software too long.
-I go for the recommended settings and optimal performance.

So in general, I actually rarely crash in any game I play, unless of course I am doing some experimentation or possibly a well known/documented crash bug is present, and despite all the claims, there aren't many games, that crashes on "fresh out of the box".

Sure, there are problems in the game, regarding quests, textures, AI behavior, and performance that everybody is aware of, but claiming the game "unplayable" is far fetched and untrue.

There appears to be luck involved. I have pretty much the recommended system, everything else (over 100 games) is stable, but I've crashed over 100 times, and encountered scores or maybe over 100 bugs, glitches, broken quests, etc., and I haven't even played 100 hours.

All the hardware is tested, all of it, and everything else works but Skyrim (truthfully, Oblivion and Fallout were not that stable either - but not this bad).

edit: And yes I'm not kidding about the numbers, back in the first couple of weeks I'd get CTDs or lockups every 5-10 minutes testing ini changes / drivers etc.

I run Win 7 - 64bit. Skyrim is not "broke". It does have a bunch of minor issues, none of which keep it from being a total blast to play.
