Skyrim-cut down on crime too much

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:36 am

The Dark BRotherhood and the Thieves guild both feel like theyre at an all time low...

Is it coincidental that their gods basicly forsook them, or wut?

or are those hold guards better then i thought?

if you did both quest lines youd see that the oblivion and morrowind versions seemed so much stronger and more powerful, idk maybe its just my imagination but does it not feel coincidental that both crime groups fell down at the same time and htey both blame it on
Spoiler
a lack of their god, db has no listener and tg has no luck form nocturnal

how does this happen at the same time?

when did coincidences start occuring in TES?

when everything is at all time low, feels wierd...

I completelty dislike how Skyrim handled the guilds EXCEPT for how the more misc. jobs you do for the Thieve's Guild, the more noticably prosperous they become. Vendors moving into the flagon &c. Yes you can upgrade
Spoiler
the Dawnstar DB Sanctuary after you claim it
but that's not until the very end of that guild's questline.

The TG is ok though. It's the DB that's really getting [censored] over.

yes they improve once we finish the main questline, but when we begin the thieves guild is nothing and the DB are nothing...
all joinable factions are lower then they ever were before, something I dont personally enjoy...
is it so the next installation will seem so much better? I dont want ot wait 5 years to get what I thought I was getting now, even the game said it, a lot of people left hte thieves guild, half the town of winterhold fell in the water below, im assuming a few students fell in too, and if you cicero's diary it describes that the DB we're in is the strongest, if not only, branch... its sad rly...

Gotta admit- Skyrim's theives guild had a horrible story full of many, many plotholes. Db was not so bad.. but still bad.

Both were better than the other guilds at least?

it just felt small... so damn small idk y... it just felt... small... like everything was on the brink of destruction when suddenly we came along and saved it, that works for the MQ, sure, but expanding it everywhere... just felt repitition... i think every questline has an npc say "Couldn't of done this without you,"

The Companions are supposed to be smaller than the former Fighters guild was.

The war and strife in the Empire is what brought down the DB, not the lack of their Gods. The lack of a listener was the result of the problems, not the cause.

Tamriel is in strife and is having a lot of problems around the time ES5 takes place. The smaller, impoverished factions are simply a representation of that.

I can kind of see your point, but the Thieves guild is the only faction I can think of that is noticeably better off after you complete the story. The DB is still small and in a massive rebuilding stage when you're done. The college and companions are actually probably a bit weaker after the quest line than they were when you begin them, but I wouldn't classify either of them as being on the brink of destruction.

Spoiler
skjor died, kodlak died, 3 ppl in the circle instead of 5, half of their best men died, in fact those 2 are perhaps the best in their group, although skjor never got a chance to really get to be known
The college would've died out if we didn't kill ancano
The DB may've been better off without us, no listener, no contract to kill emperor, then astrid wouldn't betray us and kill everybody in the process
The Thieves guild would've continued being bankrupt until everybody left
think they were all on the brink of destruction

Spoiler
the companions are dieing off because of the war? I dont see that, they didn't even participate in the battle for whiterun, they have stayed to the side through it all, they're just dieing out
The college is dieing because they blew up the damn city
The DB are dieing without a listener, who seems to have not been chosen for quite some time, maybe even before the thalmor attacked
Thieves guild have no help from their god....
sounds coincidental to me...

The College didn't cause the great collapse, I believe the earthquake that did was a side affect of Red Mountain's eruption.

i actually liked the DB questline, and if you get a chance to read *his journals, i recomend it. yeah they got screwed over, but as the joker said:

"Now, our operation is small, but there's a lot of potential for "aggressive" expansion."

the thieves guild questline felt off to me, hardly any actually thieving. arson, murder, frame people, sure you got to see nocturnal but still felt more just like a bad guy then a thief. . .

never done the mages guild as i dont play mages

i liked the companions, i dont think they were on hard times as there are other new recruits around. and while you hit some snags during the questline, they seem to be doing better then the other groups.

When pervious year's entire student body all died in strange accidents and the Archmage's first guess to your return from that little school trip is that of yet another student got himself killed, I can imagine it been a little hard on the student enrollments.

As a bonus for the dragonborn, that lowered the entry requirements to pre-school levels and guaranteed him a bed in the dorm so it is all good.

I thought the title meant, crime isn't enforced as much. I can walk by a guard and decide whether or not I want go to jail, pay a bounty, bribe or just walk away. "Wait...I know you." should be a forced dialogue when coming into contact with a guard. Avoiding guards in town would make sense if this was implemented, and exiting the dialogue would result in an arrest.
