Ok I don't know if anyone else experienced this but the Left eye of the Falmer is bugged. This is my third play through and it still is bugged i even saved before entering the room where Mercer is and it still won't fix. However I only experienced this on Xbox 360 and I hope the Bethesda team works on this problem.

What sort of bug?

Probably the one regarding the "Litany of Larceny" quest. When you pick up the gem named "Left Eye" you should receive a quest to sell it to Devin. On PC it's possible to avoid this bug by NOT picking up the gem and use the console to force the next quest stage as well as to create an unbugged item directly into the players' inventory.

Mine was bugged as I picked up both the Left and Right Eye of the Falmer, but only one could be sold to Devin (or anyone else for that matter).

He took the Left Eye just fine, but wouldn't buy the Right Eye. So I figured that maybe the Special Thieving Item was only for the Left, so I went elsewhere to sell the Right Eye. The problem is that when I went to a different vendor to sell the Right Eye, it wouldn't even appear in my inventory. This told me that my game viewed the Right Eye as a Quest Item, so I tried to drop it in a random location. No dice. I then tried to store it in a chest at Breezehome, and it told me "Quest Items cannot be removed from Inventory", so I figured that maybe it was a glitch with Devin when I tried to sell it earlier. I went back to Devin Mallory and tried to sell it to him again, and he still wouldn't take it...

So now I have a gem in my possession that is worth 5000 gold, and nothing I can do with it. I can't even use it as a creative paperweight.

Oh well, it isn't really affecting game-play at all, so I'll wait for a fix when Bethesda fixes the Quest Glitches in one of their January updates. Just thought I'd list it here so people would know.

The right eye is not meant to be a quest item for Delvin (there are seven in total: the statuette, the decanter, the map, the model ship, the cube, the bust and the left eye). So if you could sell it to Delvin you didn't stuble onto the bug.

Wow I didn't even know this was a bug! I just stored it away as a trophy in Breezehome.

But that's what I'm saying, the game says the Right Eye is a Quest Item when it really isn't. It won't let me get rid of it.

ive never had a problem with the eyes themselves but a buddy of mine, kills mercer and ta-da no skeleton key...does the same thing for the ivory claw...on the dead guy

I still have problems with it the quest indicator wont activate at all i really hope Bethesda patches it. Like if it's in your inventory you get a quest indicator towards delvin for the left eye.

I am unable to sell the left eye to Delvin, and never got the quest update to sell it to him. I have both the right and left eye stored in my home in Riften.
