Skyrim guards are rage quitters!

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 8:01 pm

Nearly every time i aproach a guard in skyrim they always say "they used to be an adventurer like me until they took an arrow in the knee".
I've been set on fire, squashed by giants and ripped apart by trolls. I've taken countless arrows to far worse places than the knee and i havn't quit my adventures.
And if they were all adventurers like me (A.K.A DRAGONBORN) then i wouldn't be needed to shout at dragons.
Wait i've just realised i sound like a stupid troll... i'm not and i love skyrim.

I'm new to the elder scrolls games and want to get into it more so i'm not one to critisise what a good game is... this is probably the best game ever made and i cant believe i've never played them before.

Seriously? It's about as common as "be careful with that fire!"

I've never heard that phrase once. However I am constantly bothered about my lack of Sweetrolls.

I did as soon as I reached Whiterun it was the first or second thing a guard said to me.

Yeah, not once. There's one particular phrase they usually mutter, but I forgot what it is.

I was thinking I'd be hearing it all the time since it became a meme, but this wasn't the case. What I do hear ALL the time is that 'selling my sister' quote by the trader.

I think he would do it too.

I kill every guard who says that, just to hopefully one day purge it from the game.

I don't know what's harder to believe: You've never heard the "Arrow in the Knee" dialogue from Guards, or that you've only played 35 hours.

Well, there was the youtube vid I was watching and the dude said that in real life, for that time peroid, An "Arrow in the Knee" would cripple somebody for life, keeping them from "adventureing" anymore because of the medical attention that was provided back then. A shattered knee cap was a big deal back then. Now we have sugeries and stuff like that, but back then they had next to nothing. Bethesda has their history facts right.

i get tired of hearing, " Have you been to the cloud district".
way too much loud dialogue, especially, when they are 100 yards away, up the pathway.

Or, i hear the guy ask me for a septum, i look around, and he's up the steps, toward the companions, while i'm getting ready to go into my home(breezehome).

Or the annoying kid, who tells me. " I'm not afraid of you". seriously???? after the 800th time, it wasn't ok.

Or the idiot, who tells me," I ought to do this to you", , every time i walk to dragonsreach.

Dialogue was kind of a failure

I don't know what's harder to believe: You've never heard the "Arrow in the Knee" dialogue from Guards, or that you've only played 35 hours.

Save 266 - Xeuix Gro B'hall Skyrim 38.52.58

39 hours then. I actually don't know how people rack up hundreds of hours - there isn't that much to do. I don't run around and explore though, I only do quests. I only liked running around when I was a kid playing Morrowind. Now, I just find it tedious.

And yeah, not joking on the arrow to the knee bit. No guard mentions it, but then again, I rarely bump into guards.

EDIT: These are the lines I get:

"I'd be a lot warmer and a lot happier with a bellyful of mead..."

"My cousin's out fighting dragons, and what do I get? Guard duty."

An arrow in the knee sounds really, really, really painful. Something that you don't want happening again.
