Skyrim.ini - fresh install generated

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 8:03 pm

I reinstalled my Skyrim from DVD, updated from steam. Started for forst time with the game launcher and this is what ir made for the skyrim.ini in the My Games/Skyrim folder:

[Display]
sD3DDevice="AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series"
[Grass]
b30GrassVS=0
[Water]
bReflectLODObjects=1
bReflectLODLand=1
bReflectSky=1
bReflectLODTrees=1

This is all that is in there. I expect I have the latest version as Steam would have updated that. I was expecting to see the other lines.

When starting, the game detected my settings.
I went to options and clicked Ultra.
- noticed data files was grayed out even though I have the HD texture packs installed.
Exited

Same happens with TESV.exe launching the game.

Any ideas?

Thanks. For some reason the game does not grab the default_ini file to generate the new skyrim.ini. In the end, I copied the contents manually. This was never the case before, but with the latest patch, I wondered if something is supposed to be different.

You have to start the game and play a few mins. It will then generate more settings in the ini file.
