Skyrim Katanas

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:35 am

Quick question, why are Blades Swords, Bolar's Oathblade, Dragonbane all 1 handers when Katanas are traditionally wielded with 2 hands? Ebony Blade seems more accurate to me. Just something that's been bothering me a bit the past few hours, I've been wanting to roleplay a Samurai-esque character but it seems I'm going to be forced to use the Ebony Blade to achieve this accurately.

Because TES wanted variety, so in OB the Blades had both but i guess they forgot about the Dai-Katana in Skyrim

Or rather, since they were in Oblivion as well, why aren't there any Dai-katana in the game? :(

Edit: Nevermind, above poster already beat me to it!

Because they're Akaviri swords, not Japanese samurai swords, so they're a bit different.

Japanese katanas are two handed. Akaviri katanas are one handed.

katana are traditionally weilded with both hands but some have used 1 hand and dual weilded katana and wakizashi (short sword katana).

i agree though, i miss dai katana...they need to bring them back and make them swing faster then heavy broadswords

They have cut alot of weapon types in TES since Morrowind. In TES3 you had a Veriaty of different weapons to choose from made of all different materials. In oblivion they introduced a few new weapons but cut even more and now with Skyrim they have kept the trend. By the time TES6 is released we may not have katanas at all, I thInk I am going to have to switch from console to PC atleast with mods i can put whatever weapon I want into the game.

Armor has, frankly never looked better than it does in Skyrim.

Variety is another issue, but as far as the quality of the craftsmanship of the vanilla armors, they are fantastic.
Loads better than Oblivions plastic looking armor.

How about wielding the blade's sword with one hand, but nothing in the other hand. So you can block and fight like its a two handed weapon.

All weapons block at the same level, an iron dagger will absorb as much damage as a daedric warhammer.

Perhaps Beth are confusing Katanas with Ninjatos, at least that's what I think of when looking at my character wielding one or two of them
Spoiler
If your gonna go after the Ebony blade, your gonna need to echant stuff with fortify one hand and perk the one handed skill tree for it to do decent damage other wise it's really not all that great of a sword IMO
