Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:08 pm

Skyrim graphics options says ''Video Settings has been set to High Quality.'' But i get alot of lag and freezes. Is there something wrong with my computer or Skyrim?

people complaing about lag in an offline game, i never understood this

bad performance is not lag, get your info straight

but anyway it sounds like your pc isnt handling it properly, autodetect tends to fail

its called fps lag, get your info straight

but anyway it sounds like your pc isnt handling it properly

obviously..

set everything to minimum, lowest resolution. shadows off etc.. disable vsync and disable mouse acceleration. then test how it runs. posting your specs would also help

go to (vista) documents/my games/skyrim. open skyrimprefs and search for the line "iPresentInterval=1" change 1 to 0, this disables vsync and will improve your framerate. search for the line "bMouseAcceleration" and change this to 0

there are also mods that might increase performance

well your cpu and ram are just about the minimum requirements. what model is your graphics card? you need to beef your computer up if you want to run in high or ultra settings. try setting everything as low as possible. turn antialiasing off, anisotropic filtering off. disable vsync and mouse acceleration then see the difference. also disable shadows in the skyrimprefs.. find the line "bDrawShadows" and change it to 0. if you get better performance try notching things up a bit

when i first bought skyrim i had similar specs to yours and i got a lot of lag and stuttering even on low settings. i upgraded my cpu and memory now i am running it at almost constant 60 fps on high settings

intel i5-2400 quad core cpu @ 3.30ghz
6gb system ram
nvidia gtx 460 1gb graphics card

Recommended Specs
  • Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
  • Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
  • 4GB System RAM
  • 6GB free HDD space
  • DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
  • DirectX compatible sound card
  • Internet access for Steam activation

I also have lag in the game, and that with a Phenom II x4 920 (2,8 Ghz), 4 GB's of RAM and a GTX 560 Ti 1 GB.

The game is freshly installed, no HD cluttered, and I've only some minor mods installed...

Seriously get 64bit OS and 8GBs of ram, and all your problems solved. I've had no CTD after I upgraded to 64bit OS and chucked in 8GBs of more ram.
