Skyrim Lag (Xbox 360)

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 4:00 pm

Hello all!

I just wanted to get an answer from one of you guys.... because Skyrim has been very laggy for me lately, only when I loot a body or go into a Chest...

It's not lagging when I walk or do Quests, only when I search a body, take something from them and/or in a chest.

The lagging lasts for about 1 minute to 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Before, Loading Screens used to Freeze or just never finish loading, but I deleted some saves and that fortunately stopped.

Any solutions will be appreciated!

Not really helpful but a couple times during a TG quest my 360 started lagging like hell at a certain point. I forget what I was doing, but it would clear up if I reloaded, then happen again at the same point. Never figured out why.

Yeah that has happened to me as well, did the same and worked...

But for this, it seems nothing is working.

How many saves do you have?

Ahh, hard to say, roughly around 40-50

Apparently having a lot of savegames can lead to problems/glitches on the 360; tbh I really don't understand the technical side of it but if I were you I would consider gutting your saves down to as few as possible. Other than that all I can say is good luck lol. I'm sure there are other threads on here that have dealt with this.

Haha, well thank you for your help!

I will do that, I hope it does reduce the lag.

Yeah, reducing saves definitely clears up the lag, and I think clearing the game cache (LB + RB + X at startup) helps as well.

I do several things to help prevent lags and freezes.

1- Clear the cache after 5 hrs of gameplay.
2- Limit saves to no more than 6 ( 3 hard and 3 auto ). Other character saves should be moved to the Cloud Storage or other storage device.
3 - Keep the system cool. I set my system on the floor, in an upright position, a clearance of any object by 2 ft and a fan blowing on the unit.

I try to keep no more than 4 saves per char. While I am playing I can rack up the saves, but as soon as I get out of the dungeon, cave, fort... I go in and delete some of the saves. I keep the x-box cool, it has it's own fan and is right near a vent. The only time i have lag or freezeing problems is when I play to long or like we did this weekend, played my game, watched a movie and then I played my game, not a great idea, I lagged a bit.

I have other issues...lol

Really? I have 120 saves for Skyrim and I see no lag at all and I've only had 1 broken quest.
