Skyrim lagg

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:43 am

Hi everybody! I am new here and I got my skyrim yesterday at christmas! My computer isn't the best but it's supposed to be able to handle skyrim, it's a laptop though. I read the backside of the case and my computer had all that or better. Still it is a huge lagg in-game and it's a very low framerate. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get!

Thank you!

I'm not having framerate problems myself, so can't personally vouch for it, however an awful lot of people are praising the hell out of this mod for correcting what appears to be a very obvious oversight on Beth's part. This has, apparently, resulted in up to 40% increase in framerates.

Try a free program called Game Booster (google it) which shuts down all functions on your computer that are not necessary for gaming. It does other good stuff to optimize your gaming as well. Also if you are running Windows 7 and have a spare USB hard drive that is larger than 1GB, plug it in and install Windows ReadyBoost to increase your RAM.

Edit: You may just need to mess around with the video settings in the in-game menu to find the right balance between playability and the highest settings your computer can handle.

As P Pierce34 said, you probably have to play around with the video settings. If you care about playability over graphics Anti-Aliasing is a good thing to reduce or turn off. Another thing you can do is reduce all settings and then move them up until you got a decent frame rate with decent graphics.

Yes, you should be able to. As long as you've got the CD key, you should be able to download it from Steam or re-install from the disc.

As for the system specs, I'm not very knowledgeable about graphics card but the rest looks all right. You're saying you play on minimum settings and still get a low FPS? You clicked "options" in the launcher and turned down all the sliders? Do other games also run slowly on your computer, or is it just Skyrim?

I play pretty much starcraft 2. But that is on low graphics aswell, my computer handles that pretty well atleast.
I uninstalled and reinstalled skyrim, no difference.. :(

Have you gone into your graphics card's setting tray?

Sometimes having options like "Super-Sampling" or "SSAO" enabled will give a 50+ FPS hit.

Go to the desktop, right click.

There should be an option like "graphics properties", "GeForce", "Nvidia Control" or something along the lines of that.
Set everything down to minimum.

Go here: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx
Look up skyrim and click the can you run it button.
It will tell you your computers performance compared to the minimum and recommended specs and will also tell you specifically what you need to upgrade if your computer is too slow
