Skyrim Launcher Not Working

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 1:33 am

Hey guys I recently purchased this game and sometimes the launcher works and in other cases it simply refuses to respond. I am running an MX15 with 7.

Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Start from the very basic hardware. The identity "MX-15" is meaningless for diagnostic purposes.

Basic Hardware Specification Chart (Empty so far)

Processor Manufacturer: AMD / Intel
Processor Name / Type: Athlon X2 / Pentium D / C2D / dual core / quad, etc.
Processor Speed: ?.? Ghz
Operating System / Service Pack: WindowsXP with SP #?, Win7, Vista ?
System RAM: ? ? GBs (MBs, if less than 1024 ? )
Video (GPU) Manufacturer: ATI / Nvidia (only those two are supported, PERIOD, so please answer which of them you have)
Video Card Model: (examples) Radeon HD 6670 / Geforce GTS 450
Video Card Driver Version: Catalyst ?.? / Nforce ??.??
. . (please use the numbers, and dates, *not* the word "latest")
Video display's default screen resolution
Video Card onboard RAM: ? ? ? MBs
Sound Card Manufacturer:
Sound Card Driver IDs:
Sound Card Model:

(And this is only for the raw hardware & driver variations. Potential software conflicts are far more likely to be game play problems, and developers cannot test for all possible program loads.)

As the dude with his post saved as a text file on his desktop said ;) need your specs.

Also, what might be different when it works or doesn't? Do you have peer block running or a dodgy Internet connection at the time?

Something must change if it sometimes work and sometimes doesn't. It's basic understanding :)

Hey guys thanks for answering and sorry for not replying.

I came back to the game today and the launcher is not working at all now. I see a lot of people having launcher problems but none exactly the same as this one. Basically it either shows the launcher picture without text or it shows it with menu text but is still unresponsive. Clicking on any part of the launcher windows brings up the "Skyrim launcher is not responding" message.

Operating System = Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition
DirectX = (DirectX 9.0c)
CPU TypeSystem Memory = 4084 MB
Video Adapter = NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
Audio Adapter = High Definition Audio Controller [NoDB]
Disk Drive = ST9500420AS (465 GB, IDE)
Optical Drive = DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device
Optical Drive = PLDS DVD+-RW DC-8A2SH
C: (NTFS) 461899 MB (245089 MB free)

I do not have peer block or proxies running, I turned of all controller profilers etc...
I tried the most common fixes for this problem online to no avail.
My copy is a UK retail version (disc).

Has anyone had this problem?

Did you ever do a save ini command in the game? Or alter settings or install mods mate?

Also have you tried verifying game integrity in steam?
