Skyrim ISN'T fun compared to past Bethesda titles, imo. Try one of those. Try New Vegas, FO3, Oblivion or Morrowind. Those can last even longer.

I find it is best to take a break when you start feeling that way. Don't burn yourself out. I normally play Mass Effect or some multiplayer games with friends when I get bored. Pretty soon I get an itch that can only be scratched by an Elder Scrolls game and I start playing all over again.

Really? What didn't you like about FO3? Just the general theme and first-person shooter parts?

I made it with one toon into the 30's , got bored, tried a few more, never got past the teens. Waiting on some future expansions or DLC's I guess, while fun to play at first, no real reason to stick around like past ES games imo.

Skyrim is more fun than Oblivion, and FO3. IMO.

I only thing I liked more about Oblivion was the Arena, less Nords, and more spells.

I'm still enjoying it. When you do anything in life for 100 hours, it isn't as good as when it began.

If loneliness was the issue then yeah, I'd say try Oblivion. You might not like Morrowind since it's text-based (no voice acting, you have to read) and has limited AI, and you MIGHT like New Vegas still, simply because it takes place in a part of the wasteland that's actually pretty populated with plenty of social interaction involved in gameplay. For Morrowind and New Vegas you might wanna check some gameplay vids. For me Morrowind has a somewhat desolate tone, whereas New Vegas DOES feel very populated with VERY social people (I mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGqR6tON-ZQ), but again it's still technically in the same setting as FO3 (a wasteland, though the theme sometimes feels more like that of a western than post-apocalyptic) and thus you still might not be fond of that.

It's been over 6 months since it's release. I'd say you've got your 60$ worth if you're just now making this post yeah? And the new DLC does add more random encounters, armor, quests, ect ect, but I can't really tell you if it's worth buying. That's for you to determine, in my opinion, it's worth it if you're a diehard skyrim fan, but again, that's just me.

Fallout New Vegas, by the way, shares some of the engine code from Skyrim. I don't know if Bethesda ever said that in public. Things like factions, cooking, smithing etc are in New Vegas.

lol i remember that feel, it is part of what drew me to FO3  i suggest fallout new vegas if you did not like the lonely feel much, NV has a warm (when you are not being shot or eaten at least  ) feel to it imo and i'd recomend oblivion (or morrowind, if you dont mind the graphics/text) to anyone (and if you like maigc it is perfect, there is much more magic in oblivion)

Take a break & wait for some extra content, Alternatively try different methods of playing Skyrim to try & prolong the fun a bit.

Eventually everything gets boring or your tolerance gradually whithers, Mine is the latter & i'm desperately looking forward to some extra content to spark up the enthusiasm.
I'm back playing NV again, It's absolutely glorious.

This as well. I took a break from Skyrim for a month or so when ME3 came out, and not for lack of trying. I'd play skyrim for 30 minutes then stop I was so burned out. Over time though, I missed it, so I came back and it's like getting remarried in vegas.

take a break, play some other game, don't force yourself on TES, TES forces itself on you.

I think your first look at the outside world in both games does well to sum up the overall tone.

FO3: Your first look at the outside world shows D.C. in absolute ruins, without any apparent signs of life.
New Vegas: Your first look at the outside world shows a quiet little town doing what it can to get by, complete with farmers, crows, robots and prospectors in sight.

But yeah, definitely check out Oblivion first, and consider New Vegas.

I've been playing Skyrim since the first day it was released in my country. And I am still very much loving it. You just got to kind new ways of role playing. Like sometimes I'll be in the Adventure mood so I have a Nord profile whose married to Aela and we have a dog and we explore all over Skyrim, vanqishing evildoers. Then I have a racist Khajiit assassin, a Breton Vampire Necromancer, and my newly created typical snobby Almter that I use when I want to be better than everyone.
