Skyrim Moment: Alvor & Sigrid

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:26 pm

It was a fine afternoon in Riverwood, as i was stopping by to pick up some smithing items from the blacksmith, Alvor. Everything seemed like in the usual routine of how I gotten so used to, in this town, but then suddenly Alvor got up from his grindstone abruptly and drew out his sword as I was talking to him. I saw the red dot on my compass, and as I came to see what it was, a dragon was flying over the mill. It perched itself on top of the blacksmith house, and the dragon spewed fire on me. As soon as I could see clearly again from the blaze, he was gone. I turned around, and he was just about to land on top of the gate entrance of the town. I don't use bows or magic; Just a sword and shield, so I had to watch him until he landed on ground. The towns people and myself were being bombarded constantly by it's fire breath.

As it went from house to house, I saw Alvor with his great sword charging for the dragon that was perched on Faendal's house. Another house blocked my view, and I heard the dragon's screeching voice, knowing that Alvor could be in trouble, I sprinted towards the the dragon which was In clear view, and shouted at it with fire. He snarled, and quickly took off once again. It came to my mind to see if Alvor was safe from the dragon's fire attack. But as I came to expect, he was laying dead on his stomach, face planted on the ground, next to his sword. It all happened so fast. All of which has happened was in less than 30 seconds. My motivation to slay the dragon grew, so I quickly tried to find it before it killed anyone else.

I saw guards shooting arrows at it, which pointed me to to the dragon near the mill. I stopped and saw a woman by herself fighting the dragon one on one; It was Sigrid, Alvor's wife. I rushed towards it, about to cross the bridge over the water, preparing for a critical charge, but i was too late. I saw the dragon grab her in it's mouth and swing her violently, and tossed her like a ragdoll. And it was just like that, she died. She flew into the air, and she hung on the fence, with her head into the chopping wood. I was shocked in how the events have turned. I came face to face with the dragon on the ground, I delivered strike after strike with my sword, ignoring the damage being done to me. I made a quick decision to bash it with my shield. As the dragon staggered, I finally gave the last strike on his head. It vanquished to bone, and I absorbed his soul, Avenging both Alvor and Sigrid.

R.I.P.

Nice story. The italics are a bit much though.

Alvor was the first to get eaten by a dragon in my game (after the initial scripting sequences of course) :liplick:

Weird! I've never had a dragon attack in Riverwood, yet I get attacked almost every time I go to Dawnstar or Winterhold.

...empty village gets more empty. Attacks like this are fun until people realize their game is screwed, NPCs not replace, etc...

Another reason why I don't trigger dragons for my role-playing characters unless that particular character I want to be a dragon slayer. ^_^
