Skyrim nightclub in Kuala Lumpur

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 1:14 pm

There is a new nightclub call BlackMagic near where I live which is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They are using Skyrim logo as theirs. I guess the owner of the club is a fan of skyrim. Check this out http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k573/tancth/Skyrim.jpg.
Was wondering whether would Bethesda do anything about this?

It's ok, they'll just send the USMC to tow the night club to California, problem solved, almost for free

Well, I highly doubt that. USMC does not report to Bethesda and that club has no oil fields on it's territory.

I dont see a good reason to sue the nightclub though, they aren't really taking away from bethestas market, and they probably don't make massive amounts of money on it compared to bethesta, so the only reason would be to just be dikes.....

That symbol has been around since the earlier games in the series though.

I'll never forget the heat in KL, stifling, almost throat burning. Was good buying ice cold 50cent beers from the corner stores though;)

Yeah, thats the Imperial crest, moreso then the Skyrim logo.

The intro amuses me when General Tullius has no clue what a dragon is, despite this.

Could it be that the straight-to-the-point military guy never gave symbols and regalia much thought?

I'm no lawyer, but...

The logo was created by Bethesda. It doesn't matter if the nightclub's use of the logo isn't taking money away from Beth, but it does matter if use of the logo might be earning money for the nightclub with no kickback to Beth. In which case a lawsuit is no stretch of the imagination at all. As for dikes, we are talking about a company which took another company to court for calling their game "Scrolls"...

The problem is under copyright law if the company fails to defend its copyright when it knows that that another company is in breach of said copyright then they forfit all rights to challenge the copyright theft wherever it is breached in future.

No problem. You just address your concern to Malaysia's legal system. You do business there, and your complaint is a fair one.

false.

otherwise failure to arrest a serial killer on his first crime would void the right to arrest him forever.

not just false. DUMB.

not taking in account malaysia is far away and may not have signed for all international treaties. laws differ a lot from countries to countries.
I also doubt the owner of that club wanted to offend. in any case it s a club sign, not a logo. could as well have been ripped from an add board.
