I installed skyrim using steam, legally. I can install mods and they work, and so far the only CTD i experienced is a conflict between 2 mods. Everything is fine. Then today, as i was about to uninstall some software, i looked through the Uninstall programs list and i didnt see skyrim there. I did see Oblivion and morrowind as i installed them too. However skyrim isnt there, which leaves me to think if it was installed properly. It is my first time using steam to install stuff, so is it normal?

Its not just in program files as hard copy games are steam games are under in the steam folder

Program files > Steam > steamapps > common > Skyrim

If I took the question wrong and your missing the folder in common folder found in steamapps then I cannot help you.

I think you DID read the OP wrong, salidin. I beleive he is saying that Skyrim is not listed under Window's Add/Remove Programs - and yes, this is not right as it should be there. It probably means that the entries are missing from Windows registry for some reason.

As long as it still works, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Alternatively you could try uninstalling it in Steam itself (delete local game files, I beleive it is called) then reinstall again. Don't forget to backup any settings, saves and mods you have first, though.

Just to throw it out there: You sure it isn't there but titled "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and listed in the Ts? I know when I just checked now I didn't initially see that since I was looking under E for Elder Scrolls and S for Skyrim.

Just looked through my installed.....also NOT listed? Wonder what's up with that?

And just to put it out there...my game is rock solid. But this bothers me. Now that i have looked....lol

Yup I just checked and was about to post that it wasn't listed under "skyrim " for me either and perhaps it just didnt' have it's own uninstaller and reied on steam to remove it.. but then seeing this I double checked and it is indeed there under "the elder scrolls V: skyrim" so I'd bet you'll find it there as well

nope not under Elder scrolls/ The elder scrolls or anything. I just cant find a single 'elder' 'scrolls' 'the' 'skyrim' inside. However i have Oblivion and Morrowind but they are listed as Oblivion morrowind only. Maybe installation error?

Many Steam games are not listed in Add Remove Programs... it's not odd as every aspect of install and uninstall is done inside the steam client. You shouldn't have Skyrim listed there...

Apart from additional DirectX, VC redist and/or .NET framework installations, which affect directly underlying os, game datas and folder can be handled directly by the steam client if the game is originally designed to work with it and inside it.

The only games i've in Steam, which are also present in Add/Remove Programs, are old titles originally not designed for steam (and which have not been modified/patched for it).
Morrowind and Oblivion for example, even when bought and downloaded via Steam, have not been modified for full steam support, therefore you can find them on Add/Remove programs. Both of them have an unistaller .exe to register in Add/Remove program... Skyrim has not, since it's fully integrated in steam.

Check the permissions on your account. Perhaps your user profile doesn't have administrator privileges, or the steam programs were installed on a different account.

But I put a Disk in my Drive...clicked install....I did not install thru steam. It is not listed in the Add remove programs. Steam is listed and it says 1.59 MB . Every time i turn around steam leaves a bad taste .......

MY other games i bought a retail Disk for, and installed from the Disk (call of Duty) ARE listed in the Add remove. And are also Steam titles. This is a failure. Plain and simple.

Programs which have an uninstaller, like ones with a retail disk are normally registered in add/remove (mainly because they add something to registry or win folders or common files folder). Also several steam titles which are not fully integrated (i.e.: they have specific installer and an uninstaller executables) are normally registered in add/remove.

Programs like Skyrim (and many many more - including those coming with a retail disk which have been modified for steam distribution) are shipped with a steam client installation... everything needed for uninstall phase is inside the steam client (and inside steam cloud/files/registry)... no need, therefore, for an uninstaller program and no need for additional os registrations, as well as for saving drm datas on registry or inside win folders.
If you want to uninstall it, you can do it from inside client. If you uninstall the whole steam client, you'd (never tried, but should be easy to check) remove all games installed in it.

I cant really see anything wrong with this behaviour...

I've installed both Skyrim and Civ 5 off of the retail disks lately on three different systems and they both show up in Add/Remove.

I've also installed Skyrim and Civ 5 on another system via Steam (not using the disks) and they both show up in Add/Remove.

Can't say that that matters but that has been my recent personal experience.

Looks like a Windows problem. Recently, I couldn't see the latest programs I had installed in the list; the latest install date was three of four days before.

Ti would be interesting to know where the uninstaller is pointing, but you should enter the registry to check it... the line in add/rmeove program points to a command (generally "program folder/uninstall.exe -params").

It is possible to add a line for Skyrim, since it could lin to steam uninstall procedure... you can pass parameters to steam.exe (list here:https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Command_Line_Options) and, for uninstall, you can just use the steam:// protocol while client is running (list here:https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_browser_protocol).

A link to steam://uninstall/ will remove Skyrim (doing it inside steam client)... but in my copy (i've bought and downloaded it directly from client) the line in add/remove is not present.
