Skyrim Patch 1.4 backwards compatible with saved games?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 6:19 am

My question is in regards of the 1.4 Patch that will be arriving soon. WIll it be backward compatible so I will not have to delete the save games and start over. I am talking about 100+ hours invested here with so many quests done, places discovered, skills and other stuff. I am very afraid that when the 1.4 comes, I will have to delete the savegames and start all over.

Can somebody please shed some light about this and if it will be safe to update to the 1.4 when it comes out without loosing the saved games.

Thank you.

I don't see why you would think you would have to start over? They are patches. It doesn't completely change your game. And the changes it does make, it will make to your current save..

Why would you need to start over? Are you just confused as to what a patch does?

Patches don't overwrite your saved games. Im not sure what you mean by loosing your saved games.

There shouldn't be any problems with loading old saves with the new patch. The only thing is that if you are already affected by a bug that the upcoming patch will fix, such as a broken quest, there's a chance that the patch won't fix that quest for you because it's already broken.

It's most likely that it's save game compatible.

But it's also quite likely that many (or a few, whatever) fixes to quests in the patch won't apply properly if you've already been affected.
