Skyrim reference in Futurama S10e03

Post » Wed Jul 04, 2012 4:35 am

Hey Folks,

Did anyone see the latest episode of Futurama?

The plot is the 3012 Earth Presidential Election and Nixon is up to no good to ensure his re-election.

At one of the political rallies, in the background, you can see members of the crowd holding up plaquards with the name of their state or district...

One of the nonsensical signs amongst the more serious ones says "Skyrim".

Go and see!

I've seen the episode but I'm not entirely sure I'm understanding the referance, is this something from Dawnguard? The episode was released after Skyrim and probably around the end of development in Dawnstar, I find it difficult to believe this is an actual referance.

Not understanding the reference?

I used the Queen's english for God's sake.... please try and follow: In the background in one of the scenes, there is a crowd of people, and the members of that crowd are holding signs advertising where they're from... Some of those signs had normal and real place names, some had nonsensical place names... one of those signs read "Skyrim".

Furthremore... HOW COULD IT NOT BE A REFERENCE? There is a tonne of nerdy pop culture references in Futurama... If the latest episode of Futurama was made just recently, and Skyrim was released last year, how could it NOT be a reference? I read the letters myself.... SKYRIM... Why the BLEEP would the producers of Futurama put the word SKYRIM into an episode if they were NOT making a pop culture reference? Is it just a coincidence? They made up a place name that just happened to be identical to the title of one of the most successful games of the last few years? Crikey Mohfuu.... you really are something, aren't you?

EDIT: WHO THE HELL MENTIONED DAWNGUARD???? What is up with you Mohfuu????

Imperfect, you are worse... Like I sit here at my PC and make this stuff up?

Wow... Voice of Reason... what a fitting name...

Yes, basically, the producers of Futurama are making a joke in saying that in 3012 one of the "States" of the "United States of Earth" is called "Skyrim".

Thought I said that much in my first post though =)

Sorry about the misunderstanding, I was for some unknown reason assuming the referance was in Skyrim and not in the Futurama episode, silly me.
Yes I saw the episode and I know exactly what you mean. Disregard my previous post.

I laughed at this. It's like you're so intrested you simply have to see a photo which contradicts your statement.

I actually think it's more that the person has become so obsessed with the game of Skyrim and spends so much time playing the game that he actually believes he lives in Skyrim...but it's up for debate :)
