Skyrim some how killed everything

Anyone else have this problem? I have got quite a way through the game think i am around level 40 with no real problems. no glitches and no texture problems. when out of the blue the textures went crazy and made the game pretty much unplayable so i thought screw this and i dashboarded only to find that i was still having texture problems on the dash board. so i turned my 360 off completely and now when ever i try to turn it on my tv just keeps telling me this mode is not supported!!

Any Ideas how this can be sorted?

unplug power from xbox, unplug video cable from xbox, Press and hold the xbox 'power' button on the front for a few seconds to drain any residual power from the unit. Plug the video cable back in, plug the power back on, turn the unit on from the power button, not the controller. If it still does it, try a different video cable, if trying a different video cable doesn't fix it, its possible the video is fried. Also if you can, try it on a different TV. it can, rarely, but can be a issue with the TV and not the xbox.

Tried the whole in plug the plug bck in with no joy. Also I am running off a component cable and it's an old xbox so it's the only cable it can be used with. Guess hdmi wasn't available then.

yeah the first ones didn't have hdmi, you've got a old unit there alright. You can pick up the component cable at gamestop for about 9.99, bit cheaper then paying 120 for a used unit or 299 for a new unit.

But this only happened after the textures went on the game. Would it really have messed the cable that much? Just doesnt seem to add up to me.

This happened to me playing Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce on my last xbox, where things were messed up in game, and then on the dashboard. My system RRODed the next time I turned it on. When that happens on a pc, it means your graphics card has overheated.

So.. yeah, I doubt its your TV too.

Possible its just coincendental, also we suggest a new cable cause frankly thats the cheapest troubleshooting step there is because the only other choice is to possibly replace the xbox. I dont know how long you had your system but it just could have been its time, Skyrim or not it would have happened. I remember my first Elite. I got one of the uncommon Red Rings, connector port for the graphics died, they replaced it but I had that unit for maybe 2 years.

There's on red ring either which is also making me doubt that the box is fried. Will try pick up another component cable some time this week see if that makes a diff

Have you tried it on a different Television yet? It could be that specific input on the TV fried. And no it's not because of Skyrim, lol.

I would think if it was the 360 that died you'd get the E-74 message, that's why I'm betting on it being the TV.

Hell, if you've still got the composite cables (SD) try those. That will tell yah if its the box or the TV.

If it's an HDTV with a VGA input, you could also grab a set of the VGA cables. It also means you'll be able to do HD over VGA.
