When i click "play" from steam and the screen appears, Skyrim auto-detects specs and when I click on "play" mi computer completly freezes and i have to force shutdown. I tried to update catalyst control center, direct x, did anything I read on the FAQ and the problem perssist, is there any solution? :S

What are your full PC hardware specs?

What options does the auto-detector set in the Options for you?

Do you have zone alarm firewall installed?

I ask because the game must connect to steam servers on first run to activate properly. When it does that, firewalls like Zonealarm with auto-block it and instead show an on screen prompt to allow it or not. However as the game is switching the display to a fullscreen overlay, the prompt is unusable and causes the system to lockup with a black screen.

If this sounds like your problem and you have ZA, then you need to manualy enter the firewall settings page and set the games exe to "allow" or else every time you start it will black screen freeze as described above.

Are you using a z77 chipset on your motherboard? There are reports from others that a program often installed with these (Virtua MVP) can cause the problem you are seeing:

Uninstalled Virtua MVP and it works, thanks to you all mates, you're awesome :)
