You mentioned your computer.....but dont tell us anything about it?...Google "Post a DX" and put it in Spoiler tags here.

The HD DLC needs 1 gb VRAM for a reason...actually it will go above that is on Ultra. Try lowering some settings, disable the DLC, Disable one of your Video cards.

IF none of the above help then it could very well be a hardware issue. But not knowing your hardware we are just guessing...

My guess....32 bit OS , Coupled with 4 GB system ram, on a 2 year old Power supply.

Since you are running SLI I would also make sure that in the Nvidia control panel you have a SLI profile selected. I dont know what video card driver you are using but some
have a default SLI profile like the newest driver(select it from a drop down menu) and some dont have a profile for Skyrim at all. Before I upgraded graphic cards I was running to 9600GT in SLI and with a profile it ran perfectly... without it was a nightmare.
Try and let us know.

Try and let us know.
i do have sli profile selected. im using newest drivers.. just checked. lowered the setting to high it still craps out, will try even lower. and if that fixes it, mayby uncheck the dlc and raise the settings back up. as a las resort i will dasbale one of my cards to see. ihave a second monitor hooked up to my second card just to be able to mintor all that goes on. mayby thats a problem tho mayby both screens need to be hooked up to first card.

lowering the settings did not help anything and now when i have to do a hard reset my second card does not show. time to uncheck the dlc.

Having a look at your Dx...Well my Guess was damn close...I said...32 bit 4 GB and 2 year old PS...

You actually have ... x64, 6 GB, and from looks of drivers the system is near 3 years old?

Update your sound drivers....Date and Size: 8/20/2008 16:42:34, 472576 bytes

Check your Motherboard site for latest drivers for ...Chipset, USB , Sound. their all old as dirt... Also as a power supply ages it loses it gusto...think its 10-20 % per year....If you take 30 % off the rating of your Power supply is it still powerful enough to run 2 Video cards??

Those are good vidcards, coupla years old now, but still.
I think the high-def texture pack maybe is too much, probably because you don't have excessive vidcard memory.
The vanilla game should run fine for you though, with nice high settings.
As mentioned, your rig's overall fitness needs to be top-notch.
Yeah you'll need to feed those vidcards, they're pretty heavy drinkers compared to newer stuff today.
And check your vidcard coolers - I have to clean mine like once a month, it's crazy.
If you're playing the game on one screen, just connect one screen.
Set nVidia control panel to 'single display performance mode'.
I don't know how much the SLI profile preset for Skyrim will control your settings, but I think proper control panel settings are crucial to good performance.
Set each line to either high-performance or application-controlled, to maintain a nice high framerate, which will help in your situation.

Is your computer overclocked? Try running it at stock settings. Also, you may try underclocking the video cards as well.

its the xfx gtx balck edition 260 . they some over clocked. i reverted my nvidia control panel setting for skyrim back to default and im going to see if that makes a difference and then go from there.

Just FYI: You can post your DXdiag in a spoiler by using [ spoiler ]paste your dxdiag here[ /spoiler ]. (Remove the spaces in the spoiler tags to make it work). Like this:

That way people don't have to scroll half a mile to see the next post.
