Skyrim Ulfric plot resembles german history

Hi,
not that you think I am flaming here, but I noticed that the skyrim setting / plot resembles the german history a lot.

If you are not familiar with the battle of the teutoburg forest read (link delete the empy fields):
en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Teutoburg_Forest

In my eyes Ulfric fits the person of "Arminius / Hermann" very well. Arminius once fought for the roman emprire but turned against the empire and crushed a major part of the roman army in the battle of the teutoburg forest or also called the Varus-Battle. The emporer Augustus said after the battle: Varus, give me back my legions...

Also the setting of skyrim resembles in my eyes very much germany of old times. The landscape, the Nords, the weapons. Everything has the touch of Roman-Empire vs. German warriors about 100 BC - 50 CE.

Here is a picture of the Varus-Battle painted by Albert Koch (do you see the similarity between the weapons and armor of the "Empire and the Nords) (link delete the empty fields):

I praise the nine that youre talking about the Teutons and not that period I assumed it would be about when clicking your thread.

Honestly, I dont know enough about early European history to say one way or the other, but TES seems to be influenced by a myriad of real life histories, cultures and whatnot.
Samurai-esque Orcs and the Babylonian-esque Dunmer for example.

Didn't Armenius eventually get neutralized by a subsequent Roman invasion and disposed of by his fellow "countrymen" (if you can consider the Germanic tribes as one country in that period)?

Ulfric (and the other Jarls) looks to me like just another Scandinavian king during the Viking era.

ps yes I feared a godwin here too when I first read the title...

There are definitely similarities, but I can also find similarities to the American Civil War.

I think it has more to do with how civil wars generally play out in any culture. They often involve a conflict between a ruling government and a set of people ruled by that government who are trying to cling to their traditions.

Sorry, I'm not seeing the connection between Skyrim and the disaster at Teutoberg; at best, the connection is tenuous. Granted I haven't actually played through the Civil War questline, but I'll be very surprised if I get caught in a large scale ambush later in the game. If anything, the actions of Ulfric Stormcloak more clearly mirror that of Brutus.

Though i do agree with you, I find it that it resembles the peroid after WW1, Treaty of versailles= White gold concordat , Ufric, A Mentally unstable former soldier who blames the Empire for his stupidity= Adolf Hitler.
