Skyrim is unbalanced?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 9:13 pm

Am I the only who thinks that some enemies are incredible unbalanced? I am in lvl 36; Magicka: 220, Health; 220; Stamina; 210... but many enemies seems to be able to kill me in one or two strikes. I am playing in Apprentice difficulty but I constantly encounter enemies who can kill me right away; mostly mages and warriors.

I don't really like this, because much of the times I have to do some really boring methods to kill them, its like I have to choose things to level up in that what I am not interested in.
For instance, I 90% of the time have to run for cover and / or hide in areas where the enemies can't get me and just shoot arrows at them... its not really fun how I have to cheat my way to kill them, I mean I can't challenge them in close combat even if I got almost 100 in one handed, block and heavy armor... its hopeless to me.

Any ideas?

Hmmm... I play as an almost pure mage, and the game feels fairly balanced to me. I'm only at level 21 though, so I'm not sure this will still be the case once I get to something closer to level 36. I usually use a combination of conjuration and destruction magic to defeat my enemies.

well your char may be too balanced

decide on magicka, health or stamina
usually health should allways be the highest stat, and then magicka or stamina, but not both Oo

try to get items with magic resist, onehanded dmg, maybe shock/frost/fire resist
if you use a shield, go for elemental protection perk, and the next one to run while blocking
go for smithing to improve your equipment

remember the names of the strong enemys and play more careful, with blocking even a giants club doesn't do much dmg

I know my friend focuses allot more on Health and Stamina but he seems to be killed easily too. I'm not talking about giants or so, its pure common sense to not provoke them, however I am talking about regular mages and bandits... I face them too often.

Weird. I'm playing on novice difficulty and at level 20 my character can't kill a boss without getting killed at least twice, and my current stealth based character (level 15) still can't get by the ice troll on the way to High Hrothgar.

My mage is currently around lvl 21 i have gone around 80% magic and 20 % health never put anything in stam. I always have either a bow follower or a mage follower with me along with Frost Atronach. And then duel cast destruction spells (impact perk to stagger opponents) Plus mage stone and crap load of magica regen items to regen mana. My Magika is 351 health is 150 and i not having to much trouble if i take my time in dungeons. With your character i would never have enough mana to live on......

With a warroior or a thief yeah health is the highest

For a pure mage NOOOOO spells in the game cost to much ..... you only would be able to cast a single duel cast spell and then be oom that is not a good thing

I think this is the fun of a mage.

Mages are hugely overpowered as soon as you have unlocked duel wielding and the knock back perk (which you can do almost immediately). You can destroy anything one on one (just did the main quest and tbh I broke it because the fight was just ridiculously easy, Alduin got 1 attack off and then died to knock back).

BUT when fighting multiple enemies things get exciting. Because if any melee gets anywhere near you, you will get 2/3 hit and archers just get progressively more dangerous as you level up. I think its great balance to be offensively a god but defensively useless :)

Some things that could help you:

i) rotate through multiple enemies to ensure they are staggered at all times (frenetic, especially with distant archers)
ii) start conjuring to get something tanking infront of you
iii) experiment with other spell schools e.g. calming
iv) start using light armour and levelling in light armour (although I don't like this from a RP perspective, there is no penalty for mages using armour, you could go heavy if you really want to rip the game).

I normally never fight multiple enemies because its a sure sign for me to begin digging my own grave... in Skyrim.

I agree even though I'm a sword user. I usually one shot all the trash and get owned by the boss.
Not really the same issue your having, but goes with the thread title.
