About:

Skyrim+ is an ENBSeries configuration that supplies Skyrim with color grading and several additional effects, many of which were once in the realm of DX10+ games. Skyrim+ is designed around http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7654. I can make no guarantees as to how it will look without RLWC, and have not tested it in its absence. The goal of Skyrim+ is to provide a comprehensive suite of visual ehancements to the base game without going overboard or making any one effect too garish. The effects here are kept to very reasonable levels, and Skyrim+ with RLWC actually has noticeably less bloom on most objects in bright outdoor scenes than the vanilla game. The result is (I think) something that looks terrific all of the time instead of something you turn on to take screenshots. Skyrim+ supplies the following feature set when used to its fullest:

Bokeh Depth of Field
Palette-Based Color Correction
Lighting Overhaul
Compatibility w/ RLWC hardcoe & Vision
SSAO / SSIL
Sun Rays
Full Shadow System Override (NVIDIA only)
Subsurface Scattering
Sky & Cloud Revamp
Redone, Reasonable Bloom
Color-Matching of Sky Clouds & Mountain Clouds
Atmospheric Simulation of Human Vision
Window Lighting
Color-Corrected Fire Effects
More Powerful Torches & Lights
Subdued, Immersive Changes

Instructions:

Part One:
  • Download both of the above links.
  • Extract both to your Skyrim directory (above the data folder, not in it).
    • If you are not using a laptop it is suggested to use the d3d9.dll version of ENBSeries.
    • The Injector requires you to run an application every time you want to play, but has better compatibility with some laptop graphics chips.
    • Only extract one ENBSeries version -- injector or library but not both.
  • If you are using an Nvidia card, extract the enbseries.ini from the Nvidia folder over the original one.
  • Shift+F12 toggles ENB on and off (on by default).
Part Two:
  • Download and install http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7654
  • Choose between Vision and Default. This ENB was designed for Default, but nights are very dark and the ENB works quite well with Vision too.
Troubleshooting:

The performance hit is too big!

Solution: Find enbseries.ini in your Skyrim directory and change the line EnableAmbientOcclusion=true to EnableAmbientOcclusion=false

You may also benefit from turning off sun rays in that same file.

I don't want depth of field!

Solution: Change EnableDepthOfField=true to EnableDepthOfField=false in enbseries.ini.

ENBSeries is not working!

Solution: Ensure you have extracted the files to the correct folder. That should be steamapps/common/skyrim. d3d9.dll or enbinjector.exe + enbseries.dll should be in the same folder as TESV.exe. Barring that turn off any "overlay" programs like MSI Afterburner, Fraps, or Xfire (you could also tell them not to detect Skyrim as I had to do for MSI Afterburner to avoid CTDs).

My performance plummeted even after turning off SSAO / sun rays!

Solution: If you are using a laptop with switchable graphics a la Nvidia Optimus you should use the injector. Barring that change ForceFakeVideocard=false to ForceFakeVideocard=true in enbseries.ini. Be aware that changing that setting will reduce performance, but the gains from actually using your laptop's dedicated GPU instead of the Intel GPU should vastly outstrip it. Beyond that it may be that your hardware just isn't capable.

Known Issues:
  • Water may be slightly too transparent.
  • Underwater view may not function correctly (too clear).
  • Pressing backspace reloads ENB, causing brief pauses (only an issue at character creation or if making typos in item enchanting -- does not seem to effect console).
