Skyrim without a HUD

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 12:02 pm

So after tweaking the ini to remove the compass, disabling the crosshair, setting HUD oppacity to 25% (only displays the text when mousing over something, as well as health and stamina bars when I'm getting owned) I gotta say - wow. In my opinion it's so much more immersive (sorry if that sounds cliche).

It's a lot easier to appreciate how stunning the enviroments are. I first tried this out in The Rift, near some Dwemer ruins and it's made all the difference for me.

Anyone else playing sans HUD?

No compass and no crosshair. Hud's the same.

Playing with the HUD off really does make the game so much better.

It also makes me wonder what the hell Bethesda are thinking releasing the game with default settings that are so detrimental to the experience. So many people are having a vastly inferior experience as a result.

No compass... I keep the crosshair, picking up small items is SO annoying without it.

I like it too but then it hides my quest pins and compass directional reading, as well as my crosshair for aiming.

How do you disable compass and not entire HUD?

You have to manually edit your SkyrimPrefs.ini file and set the values to 0.

Not me. It's so discreet that it's not a nuisance. Maybe it's because I have a large screen (1600x900)?
