skyrim wont start ps3

Post » Wed Jul 04, 2012 4:42 am

I dont know whats going on but i tried too play skyrim today and it wouldnt even load to the main menu. Played fine yesterday and days before. Usually when it starts on ps3 it says this game saves automaticly bla bla bla and you need to press ok too continue too the main menu. Today it wouldnt even show that screen. I launch it from the ps3 main menu so the disk is fine and readable. The weird thing is that it is freezing my ps3 completely also. Normally when you take a disk out the ps3 goes back too the main menu, this is just stays on the black screen. Any ideas? All my other games and dvds work fine.

Sounds like your Hard drive may be corrupted , the HDD in my PS3 died last night after a long gaming session with skyrim. F3 killed my first PS3 and skyrim finished off the second lol. Spoke with a lovely lady last night who works for sony and she said since it wasnt under warranty anymore I could get a new laptop HDD as long as it is the same physical size it should work in my PS3 was $50 at bestbuy went from a 160g to a 250G. MY advice is to start backing up all your saved data on a thumb drive and keep a couple new HDD around lol. If its still under warranty send it off to sony and they will fix, may take a couple months to get it back though.

Try this, Turn off you ps3 by using the control only. Once off, unplug it. Take out Hard Drive located on the side. Once Hard drive is out. Replug in PS3. Turn on PS3 and let it boot up. Nothing will happen or load, but ( Forget) what it says but you should get some type of error message. Once its been on for about a minute or more uses button by disk area to turn off the ps3 by holding down the button. Unplug PS3 and using only dry cutips or a can of AIR clean any dirt, in and around the ps3. Check air holes on botton, top and sides and remove all dust, hair or other off your PS3. Using a can of air blow any dirt, dust or other out of the hard drive area. Once done reconnect your Hard drive and secure it. Plug in PS3 and then turn it on with using your PS3 button on controller.

If it does not work then, you might have to go for a hard Delete and reinstall of software that means all data on it will be lost.

Good tip or advice, Never turn your PS3 off by power swicth on the back of PS3 or unplug it when booting down. Doing this can causes damage to your HardDrive. Always turn on and off your PS3 by using the controler only.

So do I HD is located on the right side if your looking at it from the front. There is a small plastic box that comes off easy. Once off you will see a metal box with one screw. Take out screw and pull on lip of where the screw was. That pulls out your HD.
