How many of you would play a new pokemon game that looked like Skyrim?

That's something that I've always wanted pokemon to evolve into, although no idea how the battle system would work or how you'd go about catching over pokemon etc.

More realistic looking Pokemon, sign me up I'd love to see how some of them would look. But playing Pokemon in Medevil times...ehhh I dunno about that one. Pokemon set in Pokemon times with Skyrim graphics and 1st/3rd person, yes please

It would need to keep all the original elements of the pokemon series, turn based batteling and so on. The out of battle gameplay could be changed quite a bit tho, wouldn't be that interesting simply running around, jumping and using pokemons to get around even more then done with the moves usable outside of battle in the current games. not sure about a good way to handle pokemon encounters in an open world setting tho.

I wouldn't touch that with a ten-foot pole. 3D, third-person Pokemon? You bet, but only if it's about as far from Skyrim's aesthetic/realistic as modern graphics allow (e.g. Tales of, Valkyria Chronicles).

As a retired Pokemon vet from 1998-2008, I say no. Stick to what Pokemon was known and loved for.

Only if the dead bodies of Pokemons are shown. Romance options, player housing, dish washing, co-op, or some form of arena...

The simple truth is, they are sitting on a potential gold mine if they made a pokemon MMO, but alas, it would never happen.

Keep the cheap graphics, just make an MMO (based off of older games)

You mean making an infinite supply of "new" pokemon, and an infinite supply of "new" games, which are all infinitely similar? lol.

An open world Pokemon RPG would be kind of cool. I think thats what the OP was trying to get at.
Not the graphics style, or Fantasy/Medieval setting.
I could be wrong though.

I don't think Pokemon with a 'realistic' art style would go down very well. That said, games can have that 'cartoony' look, and still look amazing.

I would. Nothing comes close to the hours of fun that Pokemon ever brought me, nor the nostalgia it still does. I'd love to see a project take it up to the scale of Skyrim even though I have no idea how it would work.

Still don't think it would ever top the original gameboy games though, they'll be hard to top for hours of joy no matter how good the graphics are!

A monster collecting style TES game would be pretty cool. They could finally make use of all the forgotten enemies that were found in the pre-Morrowind games, for one. Besides, who doesn't ever wonder what a pet skeever is like... during what should be illegal animal fights.

I love me some Pokemon, by the way. I would call BETRAYAL! on one that uses the graphical style of Skyrim or is realistic, though. That just doesn't work for the franchise. Not because kids play it, but because it is meant to be cartoony. Besides, cartoony doesn't mean baby stuff. It just means cartoony.

Pokemon sort of already is open world for what it is. It's a monster collecting game. You have millions of choices in what to do with move sets and the like. The series is open ended, though. Not open world. Of course, I'm a nutcase who thinks the first Metroid game is more like a survival horror game, so whatever. That said, if one can't find how a game like Pokemon is open ended, try building a team and looking at all the moves those things can do. I used to do a bit of competitive Pokemon online, and I always used a Weavile that was more or less petty crowd control and like the thief of a DnD party.

Another staple of my Pokemon team was a tanking heavy damage dealing Donphan. I had no small fry in most cases, and the Weavile and Donphan were the two Pokemon that served me quite well. Still got 'em, by the way.

Hmm... I don't know about that.

What I do know is that a Pokemon MMO could be really cool if executed perfectly. :ermm:
