skyrims map

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 6:32 am

okay yes i know this has been done many times before, but give it a chance; please.

the map in skyrim is very pretty and at the start of the game im appreciated it very much it let me learn the different areas of the game and let me learn more of the climate in different areas. but when you've played the game for over 130hours its very difficult to find locations on your map or even roads on how to get there.

iv had to use the paper map to learn road locations. like i said the map is very pretty but highly unpracticle when played for a long time.

this isnt a topic on whats better; paper or skyrim map, this topic is how to improve the current map.

This is so weird. I can play the game perfectly fine with this map, even after 200+ hours of gameplay. No idea what you guys are used to.

Same here. I imagine this map would be like scrying (sp? ). Sort of a magical eye in the sky. I have seen maps from early periods in our own history. They were not scaled properly and were full of guesses and other inaccuracies. To me, this is a great way for the player to have a highly detailed and accurate map. Coupled with the clairvoyance spell, geting around is a piece of cake.

But, to the OP, if I were to try to improve it, I would make zooming around the edges the same as in the interior. The edges of the map can be tricky.

The only thing I would add is an option to illuminate main roads.

My New Year's wish would to have a DLC for us console players that would reflect the awesome MOD for PC created to zoom from the map to ground level. Problem solved.

Ugh... PC players ar so lucky...

Thats the first thing i said to myself when the zoom stopped... Zooming. Thats it? Thats all it allows you to zoom? Pbbb...

And then when you open up the map, sometimes its zoomed all the way in, and zooms out... It looks awesome for those few milli-seconds.

What I want is a minimap so that you don't have to keep on pressing "M" and then "L" to specify the location. Just like WoW maybe..

I like the map, but I don't see how it could've been difficult to add in a flat "political" map that only showed roads & cities that you could easily switch over to in the map screen.

How difficult is it to edit the map? Would it be a difficult mod to find your current location and place a red dot on the map at that spot when you press a key? I would love to leave a trail of dots behind me as I follow roads. Where IS the map stored anyway?

PC players, I recommend you get these two mods while waiting for a better map to come out. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4929 http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4817 .

I rather just have the local map turned in to the main map of course with the ability to zoom out and in more, 3D aspect of the current one doesn't ADD anything its just fluff so its pointless for navigating it pretty much impossible due to roads missing that such mod on top fixes but even then off road and side trails are still not there let alone the pan view of the current one is terrible.

There is also the RP argument that it really doesn't fit in the game in any way it would fit in Fallout series a lot better the possibility of a sattilite or Todd's UAV flying above on call 24/7 is there in Skyrim it is not.

To the OP, if you are playing on a pc, then go to Skyrim The Nexus, where you can find a great mod that will do just what you need, namely, placing roads on the map.
If you are not playing on pc, then i guess that your only hope is that Beth will upgrade the map in a patch or with some DLC.
