Slaughter Casears Legion?

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 2:39 pm

So, I was thinking about going into the Fort and just trying to completely slaughter everyone there. Without a huge spoiler, has anyone accomplished this feat? Is it even possible, or will the legion just keep respawning??

Like Gabe said, it's possible, and not even than hard, until you get to the Praetorian guard when trying to kill Caesar. They'll chew you up and spit you out if you aren't careful.

Yeah I did it with Boone and Ed-E when I was still under level 20 (died about a gazillion times in Ceasars tent before we finally got 'er done). But that was my first playthrough not in hardcoe mode.

This playthrough I'm in hardcoe with low charisma so my companions are mostly useless. Think I'll be friends with the Legion this time. :D

I plan on being under the influence of drugs. And a huge amount of them at that. I also just hit level 20, so with Grim Reapers Spirit, it shouldn't be impossible. Wish me luck.....

Yeah I have done so a few times I always bring Boone so he pretty much destroys everyone. They don't respawn unless you leave and come back a few days later I believe only a few Legion members come back though.

Yeah uhm... If you're playing Unarmed or Melee then you might have a problem with his guards considering they are extremely dangerous to get close to you.
I backpedeled and screamed "Oh [censored] oh [censored] oh [censored] oh [censored] oh [censored] OH HOLY [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored]!!!" while shooting them.
one got close, hit me, lost one third of my health. O_o
Of course, I was wearing a grimy pre-war suit and had a total of 0DT so that might have been the reason. :P
Still, they're freaking dangerous. :(

If you're already level 20 and you have some decent armor and weapons you should be fine. The only real problem is the Praetorians.

Even though I killed the guards outsied Caesar's tent, my companion still wouldn't follow me in. So I entered and immediately exited. Then Caesar and two of the guards followed me outside making it easier for me to kill them, before heading back into the tent to kill the rest.

I don't think it affects the story at all.
Unless you're siding with Mr. House?

The camp you can go to is just one of many, as one of the little Legion folks say.
Even if you kill Caesar and wipe out the whole camp, the battle at Hoover Dam is still gonna take place.

Yeah.. don't let them get close to you. Their ballistic fists and displacer gloves are NOT FUN to be on the receiving end of. Other than that, it's the same strategy as clearing out any other highly populated area. Scope it out and decide the best path, which entirely depends on the weapons and tactics you're set up for.

Yeah you can do it. I think only the guys at the gate respawn? They showed up again after I slaughtered the whole camp. The kids cant be killed either. Its pretty tough. I did it at level 20 with Sniper and Cass, you could do it lower with very careful planning. Hardest part is

Spoiler
Ceasars tent. They mob you and pound you to dust. I just ran in, one-shotted Ceasar, then ran out and ran away, picked off the legio as they came out of the tent.

Scribe Counter and their very own Legion Assault make Praetorian cry.

Mined the outside of the tent. Sneaked in, killed as many as possible before they became aware of me, then legged it out. The follow and trigged the mines outside where i preceeded to finish them off if they didn't die.n h

I killed the entire camp, then I got to the Praetorian, they chewed me up in seconds.

The best way to handle them is to enter the tent, wait a second, then leave. The Praetorian will follow you. They are easy enough to pick off outside.

I did it around level 20 with Veronica and ED-E with no problems outside the tent.

Really, it's sad how ill-prepared the Legion was to defend the fort that housed its leader from a mailman, a girl with a punching fetish, and a floating robot.

The same can be said about the NCR's protection of their president and Chief Hanlon along with the rangers at Camp Golf. Very disappointing.

Done it.
At the time, the Legion hated me, so I figured I might as well show 'em who's boss.

I went to Cottonwood Cove, whipped out my trust gauss rifle, shot a scout in the head, shot his dog, my detection got bumped to [Caution], shot the witness, got downgraded to [Hidden], grabbed a disguise and moseyed on over to The Fort.

Rex, Marcus (http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37376), Cass and I got to Caesar's tent, at which point I donned my Tesla armour, got out my Plasma Defender, and went to town.

I killed Caesar, and then promptly ate him like a salad.

Good times.

I'm going to be doing this tonight when I get home. I waited too long to continue the main story line now I have no choice but to go in there and wipe them out.

Boone doesn't just attack the ferryman like he attacks everybody else in the Legion? That surprises me. Can you only take him over on your first trip for a quick bit of ultraviolence when first invited by Caesar, or can you go in, learn that special Unarmed move, chat with some folks, get a new dog brain, and THEN massacre everyone (or even leave and come back in between)?
