Slayer perk requirements

I was wondering if I could get an official response on this from a dev or someone official-ish. I started a Melee/Unarmed character recently, and I was making notes of the perks I should get as they come up and where to put points etc. when I noticed something funny about the Slayer perk requirements.

90 points in Unarmed -- that makes sense. It was 80% Unarmed in the original Fallout. Then it says 7 Agility. That's interesting. The original was 8 Agility and 8 Strength, which works because Unarmed and Melee (HtH) were based off Strength and Agility. But now Unarmed is based off Endurance (don't ask me why), so why is Agility required now when it no longer benefits Melee and Unarmed? And why is Strength no longer a requirement now while we're at it?

I'm just curious. This isn't a complaint, because honestly I think this is a simple mistake, unless for some reason I can't see this is where the devs actively chose to balance something somewhere somehow.

According to the wiki, Strength is still a requirement, but a bug is preventing that from displaying. The full requirement is: 90 Unarmed, 7 Strength, 7 Agility.

The patch will fix it.

The wiki is wrong. Pre and post patch the requirements for Slayer have not changed at all. You must be Level 24(+) and have 7 base Agility and 90 Unarmed skill.

EDIT -> @OP: Many perks have "cross-class" requirements for skills and SPECIAL stats that aren't exactly what they would seem to need. Agility governing speed and Slayer giving you a speed increase to your attacks makes perfectly fine sense to me. No doubt to make you create a more well rounded character than one focused only on a few areas.

How is the wiki wrong, slayer requires both strength and agility period. You can't take it with out 7 strength I tried.

Um, that wiki entry was written by someone with no idea what they're talking about that's how? I checked it in the GECK and in-game. There is no strength requirement for Slayer, period.

You're doing it wrong.

You're doing it wrong.

So 100 unarmed and agility 7 isn't enough? Your on the PC so you could easily have some tweak mod installed which alters the slayer perks requirements maybe the patch changed it to agility only. But the fact of the matter is I had an unarmed specialist character with 7 agility and maxed out unarmed yet slayer was grayed out. But I had a character who met the requirements listed "in-game" and it wasn't enough and plenty of other people ran into the same problem.

Unarmed 90 AGL 7. I took a quick peek in my strategy guide. Nothing tied to strength at all.

That would be a good way to explain why this perk requires Agility, if this were a new perk, but it's not. Let me just say again the Slayer perk in Fallout (and Fallout 2) was designed to require stats from a Melee/Unarmed (or HtH) build. It just was. It complements those stats perfectly, so there's already a reasoning behind it. High Agility and movement speed I guess helps with Melee/Unarmed, but for my play it hasn't been a noticeable increase or benefit. I mean either I'm already in melee range or I seek cover and wait for them to come to me. Why run with my minimally increased movement speed into the direction of the bullets? Also, does Agility increase Melee/Unarmed attack rate on its own? That would be a benefit along with this perk, but I haven't heard that it does. In the end, you're implying that the SPECIAL and skill system is designed to pigeon-hole players into building hybrid "Jack of all trades, master of none" characters. I don't agree with this. Some people just don't want to play "well-rounded" characters.

You also said many perks are like Slayer, and "have 'cross-class' requirements for skills and SPECIAL stats." What other perks are like this? Do you mean perks like Chem Resistant, Pyromaniac, Hit the Deck that require a sort of role-playing to recognize the connections? The problem is these are not many. These are the exception. Maybe you can list more, but I really don't see "many".

So your point is that the strategy guide is wrong? The guide has several errors and inaccuracies.
