Sleep question and maybe Area 51

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:05 am

Well forgiveme if has been asked n answered before, but does anyone know if it will be the same sleep interface as was used in 3. Not really a biggy I suppose but with the survivial bit engaged I think the good old 8 hour countdown might get a little mind numbing after a while. (suppose you could break it up in shorter bits heh)

Also will needlers make a return??? could see them going hand in hand with survival skill created poisons. Bit worthless against armor though (but thats what explosives are for heh), and the dart gun last game was a fair weapon I suppose so maybe nixed?? Anyone in the know on this?

And lastly heh being an older gamer perhaps and slightly twisted to boot... I am wondering where is our Offical fallout Pin up ghoul.. Do not get me wrong Pip boy is one heck of a mascot, But in my mind A walking talking Ghoulified Marilyn Monroe companion would be perfect (though to be honest Betty Page is more to my taste), dont have to be any real person just peep out a lot of WW2 era nose decals ) A breathy, vampy looked like she steped outa the grave with killer one liners, and not excepting the fact well she has seen better days hehe... Ahh I can dream

And you know I hope if the do implament an Area 51 anytime.... that it turns out indeed after a hellish gauntlet of Bots and ghouls turns out they are protecting a weather balloon.... Now that would be funny

Allright go easy first post thanks heh

What? Isn't there a slider that you can move to one hour or whatever you want when you wait or sleep?

If done like this, I'm all for Area 51. My favorite idea on the subject to date.

Ahh I was not quite clear enough.. when you Sleep in fallout 3 you indeed can select how long... but (at least on console) it just steadly ticks down well a bit slowly.. which I think is why well i just gave it up (its the same as waiting tick down wise) I was just hoping the speed it up a bit as with inforced sleep (if you so choose) you will be looking at it a lot more

I would like someone to count how many threads are about Area 51. But no matter, I would also like it if it turned out there where no aliens there. EVER.

Oh ok thanks for clearing that up and I completely agree it can get tedious real quick.

Yes, the time it took to wait for the clock to tell you that you slept was cumbersome.

Well i disagree. Sleeping was alright in F3, every second that passes was a minte of the slider, and you only had to sleep for one hour to get fully healed and get the well rested bonus in your own bed...

Except if you wanted to wait for daylight.....

This isn't what you are asking, but it is sleep related:

Sleeping in hardcoe mode doesn't heal you, and you dehydrate while sleeping. Cruelly enough, you are also required to sleep!

I WILL DESTROY YOU!

I mean, yes the sleeping will be in like it was in Fo3, I dont know what a needler is, a Ghoul Marilyn Monroe would be a bad idea, and Area 51 was being asked about since it was known that FNV would take place in Vegas (since 2009).

I thought sleeping just didn't heal cripples. Can you link to (or mention) where you heard that sleeping didn't heal you at all?

Josh just confirmed it on the somethingawful forums (not sure if they're allowed to be linked to here, no clue). Sleeping won't heal HPs or limbs in hardcoe mode.

EDIT: He also said that sleeping is in itself the thing you're required to do in hardcoe mode that is the least bit of "maintenance". So I guess you won't need to do it *too* often. He said that not sleeping will eventually bring stat penalties and the final state is that you die from exhaustion. But he says that if you reach that stage, well... You're almost trying for it.

Also, he says that RadAway works over time in hardcoe mode as well. Radiation penalties are the same as in Fallout 3.

Ah, ok. Thanks. I think they are allowed to be linked (at least they have been linked before).

You continue to accumulate starvation/dehydration when you sleep. Also, sleeping in hardcoe mode doesn't heal you at all.
