Smithing or Enchanting for Battlemage?

I am having trouble deciding on one of these two crafting skills for a melee-oriented battle mage. I want to avoid both because I want a decent challenge on Master difficulty. I am focusing on One-Handed with dual wielding, Light Armor, and Conjuration as main skills and Smithing/Enchanting, Restoration, and Alteration for subs, or that will be leveled up as I progress through the game based on when the game starts becoming more difficult. Which do you guys recommend?

To me, a battlemage is a person of high station and education. He/she would not be likely to engage in menial physical labor. So... enchanting, not smithing. Also, aren't battlemages more likely to wear heavy, as opposed to light armor?

Normally, I'd go Heavy Armor in vanilla, but I have JaySuS Swords which gives Dragonbone weapons. Plus, I like having mobility.

PS: Where should I cap magicka and stamina for a battlemage with enchanting? And what enchantments should I go with?

EDIT: Decided to go with Smithing. I find enchanting makes things a bit too easy. I like actually having to use my head rather than just heading in and going "slashy-slashy".
