SMITHING POTION

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:59 am

Hi comrades,

I have passed many many 24 hrs in this game inside Arcadia's Cauldron in hope to obtain one or two Blacksmith's elixir, but no luck. Which I don't understand why.

Now, I would like to try those in youtube something like 101% or 130% or else for smithing. But those movie seems hard to understand. Can anyone of my dearest dragonborns in Skyrim help me out by mentioning here point by point the procedure of the process?

Many thanks...........!

Spoiler
Get Blisterwort, get Glowing Mushrooms, combine them at an alchemy table, it's not rocket science

But in order to get to 100% or more you need Alchemy enhancing gear and perks in Alchemy. I am getting 103% with a nearly fully perked Alchemy tree (all the necessary perks for enhancing taken), 105 Alchemy (Community Uncapper) and 60% enhancing from my gear.

Hi Friend,

I see, if think in deeper feels, I don't want to exploit too much, but 1000 defence rating is ok to proceed with the game safely without being killed? If yes, any procedural steps on how to create the related gears including potions to apply to my daedric armor?

Maximum defense is 567. Any number above this is redundant. This is 80% damage reduction.
If you want the maximum survivability, add a shield, spell, or the lord stone http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Armor.

You don't need an armor rating higher than 567, which is easily archievable without potions. Everything higher is only for show. I would rather look to enhance your magic/elemental resistances.

So with my armor rating at 147 at lvl 37, I'm in the bad books now?

as in bad player....

But I never invested in smithing and basically wear what I find, fits me well as rp-ing.

Will look into it for the next non-sneak char.

Since it's a single player game there is no good or bad. If you have fun with your build it's a good one. ;)

I will limit my chars smithing a bit more as well, just like I limited my enchanting.

Hi my friendly dragonborns,

I get it. I will not exploit, and your above supports are really constructive, then I don't have to break my brain for thinking too much and can proceed. Tonight I will try as per that.

But just one question, just in case I achieve around or lower than 567 armor rating, this is enough to fight those guys in daedric quests? I really feel those guys really hits very hard.

So far I got Mol Balag's mace, Valdr's lucky dagger and for many tries the Dawnbreaker, so before I go to others, have to protect myself first. Any comments?

Around 450 to 500 should still be fine but there is one enemy you should be afraid of.
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Forsworn_Briarheart they level with the player and have a insane (meele)Damage output.

Magic Resistance ;)

Combine rings, amulets, shields, the Agent of Mara greater power and boots of elemental resistance and you should be set for life. (You can also take the Lord/Atronach Stone)

Especially on Azuras and Peryites Quest it is needed on higher difficulties.

And if it gets to easy you can just change some gear. ^^

Ok I see my friends,

Will try this tonight and try to get that shield reward from Peryites and just get to know that those briarhearts are levelling with us... Seems very fearsome, archery will do fine with them?

I can make Blacksmith potions which have 88%. My Deadric swords have a 300 damage on them. I can kill with one swing and it doesn't have to be a power attack.

Good for you but some people dont want to be a boring "look at me, i 1-hit kill everything" superman. But if you like it then play it.... Skyrim is a 1-player thingy.

I can make smithing potions at 112% - I have all the 5 base perks plus the Benefactor perk in the Alchemy skill tree. Plus I have an enchanted ring, necklace, circlet and gauntlets to fortify Alchemy. My Alchemy skill is on 92.

I wonder if the devs knew how much they were going to be exploited when they put in fortify smithing and fortify enchanting potions :)

Your stated armour rating isn't your actual armour. There is a bonus of 25 per piece not shown in your inventory. If you have 200 armour and are wearing boots, armour and gauntlets, you actually have 275, which is then multiplied by 0.12 to give your damage reduction percentage. So even if your smithing isn't high, and you can't get the potions, and a piece of armour from the beginning of the game seems like it's rating is so low as not to be worth it, the bonus might make it worth wearing anyway.

The poster with 147 armour, if that's four pieces, actually has 247. That's just under 30% less damage, which might well mean the difference between life and death.

I had no idea you can insta-kill a briar heart like that. I can't wait to try that with my thief.
