smithing: The new iron dagger method. Does it work?

Post » Mon Jul 09, 2012 5:45 am

So, I understand smithing advancement was changed so that you gain XP based on teh gold value of the item being smithed (or upgraded). Does this take into account enchantments? i.e. can I smith a bunch of iron daggers, drop a banishment enchantment on them making them worth hundreds (at higher levels, thousands) more and then take them to the grindstone? Will this net more xp than a straight iron dagger or does it work on base GP cost?

I would just go get a load of dwemer items and smelt them. Use that to create dwarven bows. They are worth 270 gold and require 2 dwarven ingots and one iron ingot. I know that doesn't really answer your question but I thought I'd share that with you anyway.

Believe me I can get even worse.

well save it, the world has enough darkness in it without you hating on people just because they have a different play-style than you, a little tolerance goes a long way man :) Besides...it IS just a video game after all.

Hmm, I am not sure, but I do think that work. The "negative" of that is of course that you need to get the smithing to level 60 first, but I suppose that is a minor problem.

Edit: I don't see the point in hating no people who chose to grind. They don't hurt your game.

It's either value of the item when you create a new item. Or the value added when you improve an item. Therefore, enchantment on an item would not impact smithing experience gain.

You're missing 80% of the game.
Maybe, but it is still his right to do so, just like the OP have the right to grind for exp should he choose to

Yes. Same here.
But don't be so harsh okay pal?

Btw why don't OP post this on cheat section?
Not that I don't like it. But believe me, I don't like people who started cheated and then commented about how the game is too easy.
It svcks.

yeah well, you're probably right and i won't argue about that.. i only play some semi-RP and i find the game more fun for me the higher lvl i am, better skills etc... so leveling up fast (to around lvl 30) is a major key for me.

Smith the most expensive items you can. Dwarven bows are ok. Ebony armour and battleax is the way to go.

Yes go and do this. I was stunned when I saw how fast this will level your smithing. After a dwemer metal scavenging expedition, I now have 160 odd ingots. If that doesn't get me from 86 to 100, itll get me damn close :D
