Snapping Objects in the Render Window

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 2:28 pm

Hello,

I am having trouble snapping objects to each other in the Creation Kit. By this I mean that they overlap when dragged next to one another, and do not line up. I have been following the wiki tutorial for making a dungeon.

I downloaded the example plugin for the dungeon "Lokirs Tomb" and tried snapping objects but again they overlap and do not snap together.

As you can see it won't line up, is there a control I am missing? I do not want to create dungeons without snapping.

Thanks!

There are two buttons in the toolbar that you should click. Snap to Grid and Snap to Angle. Both should be on when placing map opbjects like walls and floors.

Snap to grid toggles on and off with the Q key
Snap to angle toggles on and off with the Ctrl+Q keys

Thanks for the reply.

I do have the buttons on, and the objects snap, but just not to each other. They leave a large gap which is odd.

See if the solution is shown in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDKivlGmia4. They demonstrate object manipulation. From what you are describing your snap distance may be set too high. I think the video shows how to adjust that.

Thanks so much for that link! To fix my problem, I simply change the snap distance to 64 and it works perfectly!

Excellent... Yes, units of 8 are the best to work with. 8, 16, 32, 64, etc.
