Sniper Elite V2(pun intended?) thread

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 5:57 am

I searched for the game on this forum and found nothing. So, I'll start one. The demo has been released on Steam and Xbox as far as I know. I think it's out on PS3 as well.

WEll, what are your impressions of the game? The graphics aren't that bad. They aren't Crysis 4 or anything but I feel they do the trick. I love watching my bullets go out several hundred meters and pop some Kraut in between the eyes! The kills just feel so...personal. Although what is up with that pistol? Single shot? Come on, give us a .45!

The guy I had to kill was in a convoy and when soldiers were getting out, I sniped one soldier's stielhandgrenate and blew him to bits! Lordy that was brilliant! I totally did NOT see that coming! He got it easy though. The scientist I had to waste? I hit him once, so that must have hurt. He starts running away, so I get another shot on him. The bullet goes right through his anus, bursts a testicle and right out his crotch area. BEST shot ever! I totally did not anticipate that!

I play on custom difficulty, with jacked up gun realism but moderate difficulty. If you haven't tried it, I'd at least recommend it. Worst comes to worst, it makes for a great demo when your internet goes poop.

Also, share some of your kills!

Haven't tried the demo yet, but from what i've seen of videos it looks like it has the potential to be a pretty good shooter to keep me occupied until Arma III is out. The AI looks impressive. The x-ray cam blew me away at first, but I can see it getting very old and gimmicky after the first hour or so.

I played through the demo on Ps3, and found it rather dull. I loved the kill animations for the first few kills, but once I realized that there were only 10 or so of them, the game got repetitive and I can't imagine playing through the full game with just that set of non-organic animations.

I had a blast, especially once I realised you could shoot grenades and chain together dynamite explosions (pun intended).

I preordered to get the Kill Hitler DLC :lmao:

Played through the demo several times, I think it's pretty fun. I love stealth-based games and I like being a lone sniper trying to make his way past lots of nazis. I might consider buying it, but I've got several games I want this year so I don't know yet. It's seems like it's going to be a great game though.

I can't take any sniping game that doesn't partner you with a spotter seriously.

Got a collateral kill on the scientist guy.

He was hiding behind a soldier and I put it through the soldiers eyeball. It came out the other side and hit him in the neck. Went straight through his chest cavity tearing things up. It was pretty sick.

In co-op one guy has the rifle and the other has binoculars and an SMG.

Downloaded the demo on steam a few days ago, played it a few times and I really love it, the bullet, x-ray, and slow-mo animations are awesome, I play on sniper elite difficulty, and it feels awesome when you pull of the shot...

The x-ray animations are really good.... I'm not lying when I say this, but I was playing the other day, and I actually got a slow-mo x-ray of a nazi sniper getting shot in the balls..... it was hilarious.

Got the demo on friday, I love it. The kill cams are just too fun, I got a collateral once where I shot one guy in the head and then hit the guy behind him in the nuts. Also, shot a sniper that was laying down on a roof through the head, down the spinal cord, and out the ass.

OoooOOOo, a demo.

Been considering getting this, this first game was pretty good. Maybe be a little too close to D3's release for my tastes though.

I downloaded the demo but couldn't run it, for some reason steam doesn't list the system requirements yet so I didn't know that windows xp is not supported..

Bought the first game in the sale a couple of days (weeks?) ago, it has some minor flaws but good fun overall. Last night I made my first 2 for 1 kill by shooting one in the head and hitting the guy behind him in the groin area with the same bullet.

Don't seem to be able to do that in V2, at least in the demo. I've seen the kill-cam showing the bullet just barely making it through a person's head and then tumbling downward.

I've got three in a row, so yeah you can. But like you say, the bullet tumbles, so it's kind of random.

Well, yeah, you do get to shoot Hitler, so it's not like they're trying to be all that serious.

It's all about calibrating your minutes of arc, or MoA, factoring in drop off point for the slug -which depends on projectile weight, amount of charge in the cartridge, charge composition and rifling (is it moly coated. what kind..), then factor in wind shear, ambient heat differences, humidity, barometric readings and surface types.....

..over a mile out.

..from a cold bore weapon.

These days there's an app for all of that, in my day we had paper, pencil and a really well used eraser...

Thankfully the game isn't that realistic. Bullet drop and sway from wind are the only things to worry about. It'd be nice to have specifics on the bullet drop; according to others it's not true to the real life weapons and much greater than them. Scope zoom and the calibration of the markings isn't told either. Maybe those are real world accurate.

Played the demo today and I love it!

What is your most painful killcam so far? I got one where there was an x ray of the testicles and the bullet crushing them, the pain was felt.
