Solitude and Whiterun surprises (for me)

I've been playing this game almost 600 hours, and I've JUST discovered the following:

1. In the Solitude open market where the stands are, there appears to be a well. It's made of stone, with a fancy looking stone roof on four columns. I only noticed it because it appears to be 'broken' - I took the Stormcloak side, and I guess this well took damage during the war. The roof has fallen off to the side and taken the pillars with it, leaving just the well.
Here's what's wierd about it:
- I've never noticed it was there before. Was it included in the newest patch, or have I simply not been paying attention?
- You can jump into the well, but you do not fall to the bottom. The well appears to be filled up, though it looks pitch black in the interior.

I'm wondering - will the Expansion provide access to Solitude's sewers and a network of underground passageways thru this well?

2. The Whiterun guardhouse, behind and just slightly to the southeast of the Bannered Mare. I went inside for the first time to snoop around. I found a room with a floor hatch. This took me to.................The DragonReach Dungeons!
However - there's simply some sewer-like passageways and a dead skeaver. Couldn't find anything else - no doors, hatches, ladders, absolutely nothing.

Why is this dungeon there?

The well has always been there. And I think the guardhouse is for escaping convicts. It's a convenient exit.

The whiterun sewer hatch.. Is for breaking out of prison.

Wow, the well has always been there? I think this confirms I have brain damage, it is PATHETIC that I never noticed it before. :-)
However - the fact that the well has no depth is odd.

Regarding the guardhouse - there appears only one way into and out of the dungeons, and it's the guardhouse itself. Doesn't make sense.

I think Beth just threw that dungeon in assuming that newbs would get thrown in jail for the first time in Whiterun. In the Whiterun jail, you'll notice two locks to pick with your one lockpick: the actual cell door, and a trapdoor on the floor by a dead guy. If you take that, it leads to that dungeon you was talkin' 'bout. I'm pretty sure it's just for flava... Unless... Unless that's where the Thieve's Guild makes its Whiterun home after restoration (IDK I didn't finish that quest line).

Get arrested and try breaking out, you will see. :) As Fenrat use to be a theif, and an assassin he has broken out of prision many a times, once he litterally assassinated every guard on his way out. :P

I know its slightly off topice but will the holds ever get repaired i love whiterun and the pout door area around the tree is all still broken.. DLC FIX?

I hope whiterun will be fixed, and also look out for escape shadowmarks, you can escape solitude jail and also riften (broken needs patch) look for a arrow and a circle, looks a bit like deathly hallows sign
