Solutions to picking up quest items before accepting the que

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:32 pm

Hi there,

I picked up a book called Wolf Queen VI from a dungeon and I always keep items in my chest in Breezehome. Unfortunately it is a quest item and after searching, it seems if you pick up this book before accepting the quest, you cannot complete it.

Is there any solutions to this or any other similar problem?

Cheers,

Are u on pc or console?

For pc Go to uesp and find the console command to fix it (search quest stage and name)

If your on a console the uesp might give a solution or u might be stuck I'm afraid.

not if youve played another 10-20 levels or so no.

beth should fix these issues as lets be honest the quest(s) should just register completed like the Dragonstone quest does from bleak falls if you do the golden claw first.
there obviously bugs.

just avoid picking up anything thats named incase its a quest, thats a shame though. or check on uesp and see if its connected/bugged with anything.

Aw man, that's another quest [censored] for me I guess. Luckily I am on the PC and can sort it out, maybe.
They really should have hidden these quest items until required or triggered. Like the treasure chests do for example.

naw. they should have just realized that people would pick those things up and make it so it doesn't gak the quest up that's all.

Unfortunately I am an Xbox 360 user so cannot use commands. This really annoys me because the whole point in Elder Scrolls games is to explore and pick up loot, not keep attempting to drop loot to see if it is quest related or not explore at all.

Is this the kind of thing that Bethesda will sort out with an update or not important enough?

I really hope this doesn't happen with a major quest because I will never go through everything again.

I 100% agree with you there! The whole reason I play TES games is for the exploration part, the dungeon diving, the quests etc. So, of course if it's in a chest, I will loot it! I mean it works with the dragon stone at the beginning, why not with all that other junk (stupid bard quests and their stupid instruments lol).

I never came across any quest item that would screw up any major quests though. Just little things that really don't matter in a major way (again stupid instruments for stupid bards... LOL)

Either wait for patch 1.4 or apply the beta. It fixes a lot of quest issues.
