So I started a new character for the upcoming Dawnguard DLC, but I have not decided how I want to pursue it. I'm thinking a rogue/vamp build would be good. This will be my first attempt at a true roleplaying character, so I'm wondering if you guys have any advice on class specific gear/stat spread/build/race? Any input would be fantastic. Normally I play a melee heavy character, but I want something different..

What about trying something completely different? A character that is very unlikely to become a vampire, a merchant, a healer, a simple traveler. He/she would become a vampire after getting attacked. Vampirism would make him/her completely mad, etc.

well if you want smthing different try to play more mage like or assassin. assassin is fun but repetitive, mages are hard to manage but pretty cool. So many stuff to do... im currently playing a mage one H vampire who wears robes and light gauntlets and boots. I also never use restoration spells or healing potions only draining health and no smthing for weapons. im having a lot of fun like this.
Its cool and pretty balanced i have 400 armor its enough to survive one shot and i dont do too much damages (60). Thats the much balanced character ive made and im pretty proud maybe youll pick some ideas... or not

How do you keep your AC rating up as a mage then? I've never experimented with a mage class. The idea of wearing robes just seemed silly to me. I think I remember a perk that grants you a bonus for wearing clothes...

But the basic concept of the mage class is kind of lost on me. I am definitely seeking new experiences, and love the idea. I like the idea of a normal mage/merchant being attacked on a supply run by a vampire..
