Some Glitches I've Noticed

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:41 am

Alright, to start off, not quite sure if this is a glitch or not, but I have 8 Intelligence, and the Educated perk, yet I still only get 16 points when I level up. Now, that doesn't seem like enough when I have 8 Intelligence AND the educated perk. Please disprove to me if this is a glitch or not, but if somebody could even point out something to me, that would be fantastic.

Second, I'm also having the problem with Boone's gun, so just throwing that out there.

Third, when I went to visit the robot at Gun Runners, he was stuck inside the wall, and I couldn't talk to him to buy anything. Reloading my game seemed to fix this, yet it happened again after entering and exiting a building. Not too big of a deal for me, but I just thought I'd point it out.

Also, I'd appreciate it if any of these bugs had already been mentioned on the forums, I missed them. So don't come in here being a complete dike and going "Someone already posted this." Just post help and/or links to previous posts or fixes.

I have 5 intelligence and I get 11-13 points per level so there might be an issue with the skill points as for your other issues I can't say that I have encountered them.

Does anyone else get the glitch where a giant red square shows up around your character if you try to use a modded version of the weathered 10mm pistol? I put a silencer on mine and ever since a giant red, translucent square with a white exclamation point in the middle of it shows up surrounding me when ever i try to bring it out. I guess the model for it is missing in the game files or something.

Thanks in advance

Yes, tons of people have had this problem. According to some modders, the red square implies that the model/textures for the modded Weathered 10mm pistol weren't put into the game, thus creating the red square effect.

Nobody else seems to notice this problem, which it might not be a problem, but it just seems a tad low.

IIRC Int was changed so that it didn't give nearly as many skill points as it did in FO3. I have an int of 6 with educated and I get 16 points per level.

I have had the glitch with modding the weathered 10mm too and I just got to the King's quest where you follow the guy through Freeside and there is a glitch near the liquor store and the guys he shoots...he goes bald at the light poles and i get a visual glitch in both spots as well sometimes to the point that i cant see at all.

The gun runner's robot was just fine for me though.

as far as the intelligence goes yea its totally screwed I started with 9 and its ten now and i have the educated perk i think its not working properly....cuz when it was 9 and educated perk i was only getting 16 per lvl... now that its ten only 17...and i was getting 16 the entire time i think without even taking educated perk...and normally would not be a problem...but seeing as you only now get perks on even LvLs makes you get half of what u got n Fallout 3 u kinda plan them out a little more...so the perks you pick should work but a lot of people are saying certain perks are not working properly...makes me wonder if the game would collapse...if from the start when u roll ur toon if u pick the two perks that would cancel each other out or just confuse the game...seems like it wasn't tested enough and maybe rushed tons of bugs and glitches...hopefully they will patch soon

I am getting a glitch when I combine/repair two NRC Armors on the PS3 system. I have tried multiple times to make sure this was the problem and it is. I was in the city of Prime or more specifically the NRC camp. I tried to repair the armor in another location and no luck crash hard reboot. Bottom line is I don't repair or use those items at this time. Hope that helps.

The INT thing is not a bug. The new skillpoint formula is 10 + floor(INT/2) + educated bonus of 2. So if you have 8, 10 + 8/2 + 2 = 16.

Well that is just a broken formula because that gives you half numbers. No wonder I get 11-13 and not a constant number with 5 Int. It must be storing the half numbers or something and then distributing them as wholes on the next levels which is ok I guess, except that we should be getting the correct number on the levels we get to instead of something like 11 at level 3 and then 13 at level 4 to make up for the missed point/s at level 2 and 3 etc. etc.

It isn't broke, it is deliberate. It is an attempt the soften the maxed out character and present players with unique characters as opposed to full-on maxed out skilled ones. I've been dreading this in NV but it's not too bad. The contrast is rather large I admit with FO3. Odd numbers give .5 decimals to the previous level. This is rounded up to the next number. The guide in fact explains this which is my backup.

Intelligence:
1: 10.5 SP
2: 11.0 SP
3: 11.5 SP
4: 12.0 SP
5: 12.5 SP
6: 13.0 SP
7: 13.5 SP
8: 14.0 SP
9: 14.5 SP
10: 15.0 SP

Educated adds +2 SP for each level you progress, and is accessible by level 4 therefore by level 30 you will have gained 52 extra SP.

There is nothing wrong with your Intelligence S.P.E.C.I.A.L, level 8 Intelligence gives 14 SP + Educated = 16 SP. That is correct, I can assure you. The maximum you could obtain would be Intelligence 9 + Educated, level 10 Intelligence has very negligable bonus. It is in a way broken because the odd numbers provide the same bonuses as the next even, that is why my advice has always been never go to level 10 Intelligence. Your best bet is level 8, get Intense Training to 9 for 15 SP (14.5 rounded up) + Educated = 17SP per level. Or Level 7 Intelligence with implant and Intense Training. Or Level 7 with 2x Intense Training, you get my point.
