Some sort of apology?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:59 pm

It's possible that I may have missed it, but I haven't seen any sort of apology coming from either the publisher or the developer for releasing the game in this state. The response to many reported issues seems to be something like "clear your cache" or "put on a cowboy hat," which manages to avoid all responsibility for having let the glitch slip through in the first place. It would be great to see someone issue an apology or at least take some responsibility for mistakes that were made. Continuing to offer excuses or to put the onus on the player to temporarily fix the game just makes people more angry. It would take maybe a minute to post a new topic stuck to the top of the board saying simply "We screwed up, we're sorry."

yes that would be nice but i seriously doubt it ever happens..sending out an apology means admitting you were wrong or screwed up and i dont think they will ever admit to that..

I take it you did not see there immediate post prior to release talking about various aspects of the game/patching and acknowlegdments eh? Google or search the forums. and they dont need to apologize.

My two cents really.

Apology should come in the form of free stuff. "Sorry" don't do me no good. All DLC free for everyone who had the DLC bug! Only fair :P

Actually yes I did see that, I read it over just before posting. If you read closely, you'll notice that they actually manage to avoid saying anything stronger than "there are legitimate issues out there." That's not the same thing as saying "we screwed up." What I am saying is that they could go a loooong way toward making their customers feel a lot better by simply and explicitly admitting that they made some mistakes and apologizing for wasting everyone's time.

I agree, people were much nicer about Molyneux after he apologized for the issues in Fable 2, so lots of people regained thier trust in him and bought Fable 3.

Poor old Beth will lose so many TES5 sales from this mess.

And the sad thing is, if it weren't for the bugs it would probably be the best RPG I've ever played.

I'd settle for them even acknowledging the bugs, but they don't. They ignore the vast majority of them and dismiss the rest as "minor" issues experienced by "a small number" of players.

I'm done buying their games.

No apology is really needed. Since we have no idea what was going on behind the scenes, but they just need to be reminded the more they screw up the less people buy their product.

Gamers don't forget.
