Something interesting I just noticed : V

So I started yet another character and became over-encumbered on my way back to Whiterun from Bleak Falls Barrow (picked up loot from treasure map) and figured, what the heck...I'll walk instead of dropping something.

On my way I encountered some wolves, I pulled out my bow and as I walked toward them (slowly as I'm over-encumbered) I draw my bow and I speed up! Apparently the speed at which you move while having a bow drawn is not affected by encumberence. Don't know if the perk Ranger is affected as I'm not high enough in archer to get it.

So it may look silly, but I got back into town just a slight bit quicker with my bow drawn than if I walked at my over-encumbered movement rate. Maybe someone already posted this but it's new to me.

On a side note, I've been thru Bleak Falls Barrow 30 or 40+ times (I make a lot of characters) and I just noticed that in the word wall chamber there are three chests. Previously I only knew of two (not counting the one on the way out after the word wall room). The one next to the sarcophagus and the one next to the stream to the right/behind of the word wall. Until now didn't know about the one on the left by the water fall. :facepalm:

I'm assuming your level is too low to have the Archery perk that allows for full speed movement with bow drawn. if so I think you've found a bug

Sounds like the 'Ranger' perk, alright. Bug/glitch/feature/exploit, you be the judge.

Only level 9, have the first perk Overdraw (1 rank), Critical Shot (1 rank) and Eagle Eye and that's it as far as Archery perks go. My Archery Skill is only in the mid 30's

Or maybe it is just me and it just seems like I'm moving faster. The difference isn't much. In 3rd person view it looks like you move faster, but it could be that with the bow drawn you just take quicker yet smaller steps.

Oh, and a slight correction: Archery is at 35 and I have 2 ranks in Overdraw, but that's neither here nor there as far as the topic goes.

I had a few minutes so I tested it. Started from a fresh save. From a spot in a field until I reached a road it took 47 seconds over-encumbered and that's with the bow put away (don't know if having a weapon out slows you down even further when over-encumbered). I reloaded the game and from the very same spot, with the bow equipped and drawn it took 33 seconds to reach the road.

It wasn't a very long stretch, but enough to time the difference. Only did this once so I'm sure there is a little bit of variance, but still shows you move quicker over-encumbered with a bow drawn than without.
