Something of a research question

Post » Fri Sep 02, 2011 2:23 am

Yes, something of a strange question I suppose? But blood type samples are interesting, especially considered the very diverse group of people on this forum. If you would please vote above, it'd be much appreciated!

Oh, and I may as well include a discussion. Have you ever gave blood? Have you ever received a blood transfusion?

Well... shame on me but... I almost fainted when I had my blood tested for its type. it's not blood itself that disturbs me, it's the fear of hemoragia. I felt totally drained after that experience, I'm not about to give it away... Apparently, O+ is pretty common, so I don't feel so guilty.

I don't know my blood type, and I've never given blood, unless you include the several syringefuls they took to test me for tuberculosis resistance. I am das ubermensche!

I am in the most common grouping, the O Rh+ group. I've donated blood exactly 25 times - but they won't let me anymore because I've got insulin-dependent diabetes, which annoys me greatly. And no, I've had no need to receive any blood.

By the way, if you're looking to see blood type demographics, there's all sorts of internet resources for it, and they often break things down geographically or culturally, too.

I've given blood 5 times so far. The first and second times I almost passed out, but then my body got used to it.

I've never had to receive blood though, and I'm pretty glad for that.

I think I'm A+, but I'm not absolutely certain.

Haven't given blood, I'm probably too lurgy-ridden anyway, and haven't received a transfusion. I do like black pudding, though.

No. There's a bias at play - the donors are more likely to click through, vote, and comment on a poll like this. Most non-donors I know don't know their blood type, either, so I bet plenty of them wouldn't vote for that reason.

Sigh... and there was me thinking A+ might be somehow cool and exclusive, but it turns out it's as common as muck.

Edit: :P just in case I inadvertently offend someone! Don't really want to end the day with a hat-trick.

AB- Seeing as it's fairly rare, I should give blood more often. The last time I did was in High School... 12 yrs. ago.

AB+, and have never given nor received blood.

And I most certainly have never taken blood, from banks or directly from people! Or organs. No siree, I'm a law-abiding citizen!

*raises silver cross and a bag of garlic* Return to the dirt from which you came!

As for me, O+, never given, never recieved.

1. My blood type is A+
2. I have given blood in the past countless times.
However, I am no longer able to donate due to health complications from military service.
3. I have received blood on 3 occasions.

Edit: Haven't been around for some time. Thought I'd pop in and say hello.

I'd like to give blood, but can't. Won't take blood from skinny, Europe-living people like me :P

No idea on my blood type.

No idea on my blood type (though I think O+/-?).

I received a great deal of blood transfusions when I was born due to being born very prematurely. And I have never given blood because I'm ineligible for reasons I won't give here.

Better than pooping out and saying bye ;)

Good to see you! Hope the finshing's going well!

I stopped giving when I ate fish from Lake Gatun in Panama. Guess they didn't want bilge water residue anymore :sadvaultboy:

Don't know my blood type, and I've never given blood. I would, but to be honest I'm scared to death of needles.

It was especially awful one time when I got anesthesia to get my wisdom teeth out, and they kept missing the vein with the IV. By the time they got it, I was stabbed 6 times and blood was all over my arm. That was the last sight I saw before going under, and I woke up still quite concerned. But then the pain in my mouth that followed soon took top priority...

I've gave blood once, and they won't allow it twice because of an easily explainable incident.
I've never been given blood and hope I never need to
