Something thats been bugging me.

It isn't anything gamebreaking, it is just that the imperials are described as diplomats and yet they have no starting bonuses to speech. I just don't think it makes sense all things considered. What do you guys think? (Personally I believe it's because they didn't want the imperial to have an almost useless bonus, but that doesn't make sense considering Breton's get +5 speech)

They are probably considered typical "barbarian" class (light armour and two handed weapons).

Anyway, I agree with the OP.

Yes, it's unusual that they don't get a speech bonus.

What's even more odd is that Redguard's get a destruction and alteration bonus. And orcs get an enchanting bonus.

I noticed the same thing, I looked into the skills and seen they had +25 in Restoration rather than in Speechcraft. No complaints here though.

Yeah, the race "bonuses" are garabage. Just play the race you will bond and fall in love with over game time.

Sounds like Bethesda randomly selected skills or something, because most bonuses don't make any sense?

Well I liked playing Imperial because I like being a diplomat-esque character, so I was dissapoint when I realized that they don't get any bonuses. I mean, did it actually make more sense to give them +5 Destruction/Enchanting?

It's just because they have cut skills in the past two games they had to replace them with other skills.

For example: Argonians were guerilla fighters in Morrowind and they turned them into thieves in Oblivion and so on.
