So... SONY...

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 8:07 am

It has recently come to my attention that Sony must be doing some behind the scenes "favors" for companies. Why you ask?

Because they keep getting ALL SORTS of content/updates WEEKS before XBOX 360. WHY oh god in heaven, WHY is this?! I remember just a couple years ago everyone was [censored] 360. Now all of a sudden a HUGE shift towards PS3?

Examples?:

Battlefield 3 Back To Karkand Expansion, being released Dec. 6th on PS3, Dec. 13TH! on 360. WTF? Why do we have to wait a week? I thought consoles got certification SAME TIME?

Skyrims newest patch, 1.2. Released on PS3 a week-ish BEFORE 360. THE CONSOLE THEY WERE BACKING THE MOST? -.- Newest 1.3 Patch? A WEEK AFTER PS3! again... WTF?

So, just exactly WHAT is Sony doing to get all these things days upon days before 360? It's ludicrous! Honest and truthfully...

I started noticing with BF3 first.. but then I saw Bethesdas doing the same damn thing. Why? SOMEONE please explain..

For Skyrim it is broken from what I hear about savegame size.

You actually want patch 1.2?

Not really seeing your point. PS3 needed a patch more than the 360 so it was understandable that it came out first on PS3. The DLC will still be a timed release for 360 though. So that leaves you with one example of a 7 day difference. The occasional thing like this pops up form time to time, really nothing to be surprised about.

I was going to point this out, Xbox gets DLC before the PS3 all the time. It's nothing new.

Dead Money
Future Skyrim DLC
Call of Duty maps
etc etc

oh no they got a patch a week early, those jerks are totally lining todd's pockets

They'll probably get the DLC a month later, if that makes you feel any better.

Seeing as how the 1.2 patch stopped (postponed) the game-cringing bug where the filesize of saves would increase to the point where they were unusable, 1.2 is mandatory for PS3 users (also why PS3 got it first, since it was so important for the game to be functional, even if it did introduce other bugs)

Well I knew about the DLC ordeal. Thus why I said they were in a way "backing" 360. Since.. AFTERALL Oblivion was on 360 before Sony got the privilege to play such a beautiful game. Same for Bioshock, RSV (Rainbow Six Vegas), etc.

But updates now? Yes... that is where my core point is at. And yes, I am serious. Why? Well..

I got BRINK day 1.. enjoyed the living hell out of that game and played it more then most that I owned (at the time). Lack of communication with SD and Bethesda IMHO was the downfall of that game. AND SONY was the reason.. well MY reason at least for the delay on Brink's ONE and ONLY DLC. (Because of the whole Sony hack incident..) We all know New Vegas DLC was affected as well.

Then combining the TU (only GOOD one the game ever got), with the DLC.. made the whole process for the fanbase a living NIGHTMARE. But after that.. if something like DLC/Updates were being released it would be PC FIRST, then Consoles at the SAME TIME.

And I fully understand.. this is a SINGLE PLAYER game. Not something as major as a multiplayer based one like CoD, Battlefield, Halo, etc. I just think the fans/consumers shouldn't be punished or have to wait, AT LEAST for updates.

Be what it may I guess.. can't do anything to stop/alter it so.. whatever. Just sayin'..

Then there's no problem. PS3 users were having major issues, so they shouldn't have to wait for them to be fixed.... right?

OH GOD!

In all seriousness, who cares? Except the Op.

Another thing, sometime they do things to make up for the bug, glitches on the PS3. The one post a few above this one confused me.

You are just puzzling sir.

Microsoft gets deals all the time with developers/publishers. Bethesda is no different. Xbox 360 will have any expansions or DLC for Skyrim a month in advance, just like they do with Call of Duty's DLC.

Sony has finally got a similar arrangement in place with EA, giving PS3 owners a lil somethin' somethin' of their own. However, getting "Back to Karkland" DLC a week later than I will for my PS3 shouldn't be such a big deal to you...

In the end, gaming is a lucrative industry that is influenced by notional margin and revenue. However, we as consumers, have a very vocal (maybe influential) role that can influence how the content is developed, distributed and handled in this sect of entertainment, unlike any other.

Just game :]

M$ throws lots of $$$ at companies like Rockstar and Activision. Sony throws less money at multiple companies, which is a better strategy.

Yup it's why I bought FO3 on the PC instead of PS3 since they weren't too inclined to release the DLCs to the PS3. Sony has become rather corrupt lately or rather SOE who's merged with Sony. It's kind of sad to be honest cause I had a lot of faith in the company but now they're just going down hill.

At least they aren't playing "Microsoft" and forcing developers to make inferior products for their inferior consoles.
