I definitely dont wish it was only a PC game. Plus, if it was only a PC game it wouldn't make anywhere near as much money as it does now.

If it was a PC only game it probably woulda had less than a quarter of the budget it did. You would've enjoyed that?

I don't. I have a PS3 and a crappy laptop. PS3 is my only option for skyrim, unless someone wants to buy me a 600-800 dollar computer.

Nice, although its common knowledge that the finished products are NEVER as good as the engine demos

ohh man, that is beautiful :D I like the look of the enviroments on the chrome engine allot more than cryengine. Its a really powerful engine indeed. But I also love the graphics skyrim has now, but I must admitt that Im beginning to be very tired of the console generation we have now, I want the next gen consoles now damnit!! xD one thing is for sure, the next fallout game will look stunning if it runs on the creation engine and is not restricted and limited by current consoles but developted for next gen hardware.

Seriously, consoles were below par when they came out compared to PC hardware. But they generate a lot of money, so necessary evil I guess... Just wish more games were built for PC where they can really shine, instead of being held back by stale console gen potential.

You know, mindful of the fact that PC gaming's being held back a bit by consoles due to A-list developers having to develop primarily for consoles due to all the money involved, I really don't like the push in the other direction either, with everyone demanding bleeding-edge graphics and becoming blisteringly angry when there are insignificant flaws in a game's graphics. I think that's worse for the industry as a whole, in that everyone's being forced to spend lots of money on graphics-centric labor rather than spending time on design. I'm sure that on the PC Skyrim will look fantastic, but even if it didn't I wouldn't really care all that much, because I don't plan on playing it for eye candy. I plan on playing it for atmosphere and exploration and lore, which it looks like it has in spades.

I wish they'd design the majority of the game the way they do now, but have three separate design teams to do the UI - one for each platform. Or two teams - one for console UI, one for PC UI. That way it has a native feel on all platforms rather than the limitations of the console UI imposed on the PC UI.

Or even better, have all versions ship with the same UI but have the PC UI be completely customizable through mods, even down to how the mouse operates and how spells are cast; if someone wants to write the UI for it, let it have a WoW-style spellcasting system (where the shortcut keys will cast the spell directly), etc.

Also, I finally was able to watch the demo on YouTube once it loaded and to flip things on their head I'm not too impressed. Crysis already looks better. You want to impress people show them the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_fbvW0RNjw The scenery's not as pretty but unless you knew it was a tech demo you'd swear that it's actual video.

There are still a few games that are PC only, and they have decent budgets.
Just look at the scale of the Arma series, or the complexity of the X series, or massive armies in Total War.
Some types of games just cannot be repackaged for console, and I'm glad the developers of those games don't try to otherwise it would ruin the heart of those games.

I understand why many companys go with consoles, alot of potential income from alot of people who wouldn't otherwise put the effort into finding or buying your games. (I'm not bagging consoles, so don't get me wrong)
It's just a shame that the gaming industry is held back alot by the hardware limitations, I also despise the 'graphics war' with companies focusing too much on graphical fidelity and neglecting gameplay.

Arma is a good example of the right direction, the graphics are great, not cutting edge but they do the job, the gameplay is varied and excellent, the scale is massive and the game is highly moddable through scripts and addons.

I hope that Beth continues to push the TES series forwards, even though I personaly dissagree with some of their gameplay choices I can see what they're trying to do.
I think the new Engine they've developed looks good so far and I can't wait to see the potential of the new creation kit.

The tech demo was pretty, but I've never seen water that clear. Looks silly.

Yep I was going to say something to this effect but you've stated my opinion. It's not just the consoles the more lax system requirements are good for. It also allows a much larger PC market for the game than if it used the latest greatest technology.

Eventually stuff like that will be used though and that's interesting. I always get used to graphics though, so I'm only impressed at first and then it's just normal. That's why I don't get super excited for new graphics. They've been good enough for me since the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox.

That video is almost certainly CGI, not an actual game world.

Also, Skyrim being PC exclusive would be a horrid idea.

Most of the people who play Skyrim are on the console. Most of the people who play Skyrim on the PC are on medium rigs. So that leaves a very small fraction of customers that could support a game with visuals like this.

Bethesda would make less than 100 thousand dollars in sales if this were the case.
