Soooo....about Carved Nordic Armor....

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:00 pm

I'm confused, and would really appreciate some help.

I'm under the assumption that you get Stahlrim armor from Skall Village, and can craft Carved Nordic Armor with the advanced armor perk. My character is locked out of Skall Village (I haven't started the main quest yet back in Skyrim), which is fine, because I don't particularly want Stalhrim armor.

What I *would* like is Carved Nordic Armor, but I can't craft it myself, and it hasn't shown up in any inventories. I completed the Thirsk Hall quest (retaining all the members by lying...that was lame but necessary). Then I completed a favor for the blacksmith, by giving him 10 stalhrim and 15 ebony. He said something to the effect of creating better / fancy armor because of it, which I assumed would be Carved Nordic (it requires ebony). But after many days of waiting, nothing has shown up in his inventory.

Is there something I'm missing, or a mistaken assumption I'm under somewhere? Is it a glitch? Did I get ripped off? Because I don't really see any benefit to giving him all that ebony, if he's not going to craft any Carved armor from it.

Help?

What level are you? I know you have to be a pretty high level for it to show up in blacksmiths inventories. I wish I could be more specific sorry

I'm at level 25. That couldn't possibly be too low a level to be for it to show up, could it? Is anybody else playing this DLC with something less than a 50+ level uber build?

'Find it' doesn't really help me...find it where? Is it supposed to be in the Thirsk blacksmith's inventory? What level are you?

I know on some of my lower characters level 20 and below I couldn't find it anywhere. I know this, once bandit chiefs or rever lords have them equipped then that means they are unlocked. I have no clue about the smithing side though.

I've nearly cleared out every location since release, and almost all of the quests not related to the Dragonborn quest. I check everything. No Carved Nordic Armor anywhere.

Does anyone else have any idea about level requirements, or what could be going on with the blacksmith? It just seems odd that he would mention it as the reason for needing ebony and such, but then *not* alter his inventory. With Bethesda, I'm never quite sure if it's a bug or not...

I started to see the armor on Reaver Lords and Bandit Chiefs at level 26, so that might be the issue.

The Reaver Lord at Brodir's Grove was wearing a full set when I went there. Only set I've seen so far. That was yesterday, I was between 25th and 30th level. I have seen one or two pieces for sale at Glover's and the Skaal village, but that's about it. Haven't done the quest you mention yet, so I'm no help there.

Sweet, thank you. I'm unsure if that's the case, because lvl 25 is supposed to be the break point for having Orc armor show up. Using that as a precedent, I assume that level 25 would be the latest I'd see Carved. Lvl 26 seems an odd level for it to start showing up, but who knows. I just killed another Reaver Lord at lvl 25, and nothing. We'll see at 26, I guess.

I sure wish I knew about the blacksmith, though.

No problem.

I agree that 1 level after orcish appears is a bit strange, but what can you do? Certainly better than having to wait longer :P

Boom! It showed up in all inventories just a sliver's experience into level 25. Apparently there was a tiny lag (I must have checked them before they reset). None of the Reaver Lords I killed had Nordic Carved before now.

I can pretty confidently assert that Nordic Carved Armor has a level 25 requirement, the same as Orc Armor.

I nearly instantly bought a whole set, before I could make carved nordic, from one of the smiths (either in raven rock, or that city with frea, or both.)

Of course, I was also level 81.

After making it, I later also saw the carved nordic shield. So I was in my whole set of legendary, double enchanted Nordic heavy plate, while never being able to make it myself. I, of course, could still easily IMPROVE IT!

After accidentally going and killing the main guy, I could respec. and removed the 4 points I had in the first thing of heavy armor, making it just one (since I'm still like 796 armor and the cap is like 597.) Now I can make nordic as well, though I don't have to.

Its that way for bonemeld, nordic and even stalhrim; You EASILY find complete sets, which are unenchanted, on the vendors. Then you can improve them, even if you can't smith them yourself.

-------------------------------

Once you do one of the black book things, for that guy who gives you the quests, you have an easy route to daedric if you can't make it:

The black market thing you can pick, that summoned dremora vendor often has pieces. The first time I summoned him he had some, while the second he had the unenchanted chest armor as well.

I've been playing with the DLC on my game since I was level 13, when I was level 22 (or around that) Heavy Chitin armor appeared in Glover's inventory. Then when I was at level 29 (or around that), pieces of Carved Nordic started appearing and finally when I was level 31 I went to trade with him and he had all of the pieces of Carved Nordic except for the helmet. So, TL;DR version is that Carved Nordic should start appearing at around level 30. At least in my experience.

This is weird. I made my armor once I reached level 50 smithing and got the advanced armor perk.
Also I haven't even been to solstheim yet.

Did you scroll ALL the way down? It's not under a pre-existing style. It has it's own section.

My level 25-27 character got carved Nordic armour from enemies, and even a shield in a chest, not so many weapons but a few. He did not have the smithing perk to make it himself.

At level 81, i cannot find one dungeon without the reaver lord wearing a full set. its just impossible. i literally have about 20 sets of it lying around. and my level 25 character found some, maybe invest in smithing to 100 and see what pops up?
