A 64bit OS is required to run the high-res textures. I myself upgraded to 64bit Windows 7 just 2 weeks ago which made me able to run the highres textures, while earlier with 32bit Windows XP I was not, despite it being the same computer with the same hardware.
REALLY!! I cannot believe you're a moderator saying crap like this. Listen up, Of course you couldn't run it on XP the high res texture pack was written with DX10 and DX10.5,. therefore XP cannot even run the HI RES TEXTURE pack due to it needing at least DX10 to run which XP cannot use. So trying to use this as an argument is absolutely moronic.
Oh yeah also next time do not lock the topic and then try to say and act like switching from a 32 BIT OS that cannot even run it, to a 64 BIT DX10/DX11 OS solved the problem of the high res texture crash trying to be Mr. right when you don't even know that the high res texture pack was written on DX10.
I already said that 4GB is apparently not enough and that I've been wanting to get more RAM anyway so I will get more RAM and that should solve the problem and will post up what happens
