OK...

First off the bug is when the sound lags, doesn't play right. You fire your gun and hear nadda or just the hit or the shell.

The fix is to get out of the game via Ctrl+Alt+Del and go into task manager, right click on the process for NV and select High

I know on the old computers there was a easy way to do this. Make a text file, in the text file put

"FalloutNV.exe" /high "C:\Programfiles\yaddayadda\Steam\FalloutNV\FalloutNV.exe" 

inside the text file, then change it's extention to bat instead of txt.

I tried this but it doesn't work... dunno if it's b/c it's run though steam or what. Does anyone know how to do this properly and make it work? I hate having to exit every single time and do this.

I am using XP Pro with a x64 processor and x32 OS (64 was buggy at the time I installed XP, yes it's been that many years).

OK... tried installing, installed. Only thing I could get was a empty dos box I couldn't type in. So uninstalled and tried again... same. Odd.

Going in-game and going to manually set priority. Hope this is fixed in the patch. Any other idea's anyone?

In WinXP, use the windows 'start' command.

Make a batch file in the same directory as FalloutNV.exe with the line: start /abovenormal FalloutNV.exe

Or, you can use the /high flag, though running with high priority is NOT recommended, because it can cause your keyboard input to lag severely.

Additionally, make a shortcut on your desktop using the fallout icon.
Also, for a list more start command functionality, open up a command console and type: start /?

The program adds a setting to the set priority menu in Task Manager. If you set the priority to high you will notice at the bottom of the menu
"Save" with a check mark next to it. If you do not remove the check mark the priority setting will be saved and set every time the .exe is run.
