no sound effects

Seems I'm having a slighly different audio issue then most. NPC speech is flawlessly synced with the NPCs during conversations and I have game music; however I don't have any other sounds (foot steps, gunshots, ambiance, etc.) I'm currently using an integrated realtek HD audio chip set up for 5.1 on headphones. I tried using straight 2ch stereo output and disabling all the on chip audio effects (dolby prologix, etc) but still the same issue. Not sure if it makes any difference but Fallout 3 has sound without issue.

I was using rev 2.48 of the realtek audio driver so I tried updating to the newer 2.51 and this created even more problems (scratchy music and NPC dialogue but still no SFX) so I reverted back to 2.48.

I read on the steam forums someone said to disable SPIDF inside of FFDShow. I have the same problem you do (plus the NPC problem)


Someone else also mentioned running the game in windowed mode not fullscreen helped them.
