Special magical rain that can pass through solid matter?

Ok, this particular issue is really just a small pet peeve of mine but I thought I would bring it to peoples attention or at least remind them. I have already posted about this on the 360 thread but nobody seems too bothered by it. When it rains the rain goes straight through the ceilings on outside structures, of course this doesn't happen in buildings or caves as they are truncated from the outside sections...

I know developers have been struggling with this problem for many years, especially on the earlier systems but over time techniques have been developed to avoid it and for a while I actually thought this problem had been overcome never to rear its ugly head again, but I was wrong. A pretty minor issue you may think but a real atmosphere breaker for me. I'm usually not too bothered about small annoyances like this but I was expecting a little more from a developer such as Bethesda. It has been mentioned that this happens due to the limitations of the game engine and I realize that which makes me question how new this engine really is?

It's part of TES, just like Ma'iq!

It's a new hybrid engine at best, nothing really "new" about it, it's very poorly optimized and looks like [censored] compared to how it could, but it does the trick!

You'll note that when it's raining, water doesn't collect on the ground either. This means that rain is likely a purely visual effect (meaning it has no physical presence in or interaction with the game world) or it is passing through the ground as well. This is an aspect of the game engine and an unfortunate carryover from previous games. This is most likely tied to the limitations forced by developing on 7 year old console hardware.

Yeah it kinda makes me chuckle, all the innovations and advances we have seen in past 10 years and yet still to this day we have games that use an animated playfield to simulate rain, some things haven't changed much from the 16-bit era.
