Has anyone ever found any loot that they can remember in Helgen at the beginning of the game, that they NEVER got again after?

I am on my second character. The first one got about 70 hours in, having completed no major quests. I just explored.

On the first character, though, I remember finding some interesting books in the cupboard of the Helgen storeroom, and some other bits of interesting loot.

On this new character, I never got that stuff, and still have never encountered those things anywhere.

Is there nothing but standard junk, or is it possible to find anything rare during the opening escape from Helgen Keep?

My second question is - when you return to helgen, is it recommended to wait until a higher level before re entering Helgen?

I have heard that there is a bandit boss inside who drops a leveled weapon.

Loot in cuboards is random, I also remember there being a bag of coins in a cart where the bear is located and a small bag of coins and a health potion in the side tunnel before you get to the spiders. The bandits are level to your caracter so go back when you feel ready, not sure about the boss though as I don't usually bother going back.

I plan to use Helgen as my home base at the beginning of my new game, but I know that when you return, there are bandits, and a bandit leader. I don't know if that is related to any questline.

It's just bandits there after.

Loot is random save for a very specific quest related items.

With my first character I found a dragonscale armor in a chest at lvl 44 and I did not even start the MQ back then. My second character is level 51 and he has still to see anything dragon related, not to mention Daedric armor and weapons.

I understand. I know all the loot during the beginning escape is random. I am just curious to know what the most valuable thing is anyone has ever found during the escape from helgen.

I found a pocket watch, a TV remote and a beeper in the cage by the dead mage.

Most expensive item i found, was the armour i took offf the dead Imperial soliders.

You could have been more creative for a smart ass.

Using as a base may not be a good idea as you can't use any of the containers and enemies will respawn at some stage. Better to buy a house?
